The surprise here is spice: alongside the expected Hampden glue, solvent and burnt pineapple, tasters kept finding baking spices, gingerbread and pepper. One French reviewer even got baklava with almonds and honey on the nose. Banana, overripe fruit and varnish all show up, but the palate turns dry and woody with a coffee-grounds finish. A recognizable Hampden that behaves a little differently.

#4278 02.10.2023 At time of release this bottle had a good price compared to what you got. Today the bottle is pretty expensive. A nice well rounded and fruity Hampden. Nice glue and esters in the profile. The palate is oily and there is a nice touch of anise. The finish is long and warm with some grass. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some light notes of polish and very faint smoke.

Clearly Hampden and yet atypical! While the rum does not disguise its origin at all and clearly screams "Hampden" with distinct glue and burnt pineapple aromas, it surprises above all with strong spicy notes. The comparatively faint nose is reminiscent of gingerbread (stomach bread from the fairground stall!) and then floods the palate with baking spices and bitter, woody notes that linger long, leaving a dry mouthfeel reminiscent of coffee grounds. Those who can taste it should do so. Exciting!

Hampden, in all that this distillery does best. Very ripe fruits, esters galore, varnish. All wrapped up by woodiness just right. On the palate, it's indulgent and funky as desired. Just the right amount of spiciness. I would have liked to keep this sensation even longer. Edit: first impression confirmed. Top rum.

The nose is dedicated to those who love the characteristic and captivating notes of High Esters (varnish-solvents). Baklava is in the nose with its almonds, honey... and fruity on banana, orange, pineapple. The nose is quite crazy. On the palate, there are notes of solvents, varnish, spices of overripe fruits. Basically a Jamaican High Ester! But it clearly lacks indulgence. It has a nice length on the palate with spices and leather. A bit disappointed by the lack of pleasure on the palate of this <>H because when I talk about <>H I recall the Warren Khong from Velier whose palate is TNT ultra well integrated and indulgent.

The nose is full of fruit and esters. The alcohol is not felt at all! Very pleasant. On the palate, the 60 degrees are more noticeable, giving a kick that fits very well! A tobacco side adds to the ripe fruit and glue! I like it a lot! A Hampden with something different.

👃: First nose very pastry-like, like rum baba. 10 minutes after serving, the nose evolves: slight notes of glue, solvent, flambéed banana and roasted pineapple coexist with green olive like tapenade. Slight notes of pepper and burnt caramel. 👄: pepper tickles the taste buds accompanied by a note of damp wood, then the solvent appears briefly to give way to ripe fruits with flambéed and toasted notes. Then for a few seconds the mouth is numbed, then the pepper reappears and gradually fades to give way to green olive and finally brown sugar in the finish. The length is on the higher side. In summary, a lot happens when tasting this Corman Collins. An excellent Hampden, not the most structured but complex.
