A very floral, unusual nose, with candied fruit cake, light varnish, rose and vegetal notes. Full-bodied on the palate, with a balance of fruity, floral notes and fine oak. A fairly long finish where the rose 🌹 stands out and finishes on notes of passion fruit. In the empty glass, woody aromas stand out. A very fine rum. Thanks Rodolphe for the sample.

This rum may have gotten a bit too much from the Madeira cask. Very wine-heavy and sherry notes are prominent. Oily, thick and heavy, also noticeably sweet. Overall impression still good and tasty.

03.01.2023 Going through some samples at home while watching Aquaman on the telly. Dark in colour. Nose Intense, fruity, light wood, light sugarcane, earthy, light caramel, herbal, light mint. Palate Medium intense, fresh, light wood, faint tobacco, light sour, light mint, herbal, faint vegetal, light sugarcane. Finish Medium to long, wood, light citrus, medium spicy, light dry, light mint. The empty glass is really nice and has some faint chocolate and vanilla.

A wonderful rum. The people at Le Gus't have made a very good choice. Lots of brandy in the taste. Toasty, toasted aromas, apricot pits, married with Agricole. Even demerara notes on the nose. A flavor profile I didn't know before. Fun to drink.

I'm discovering (almost, only one precedent) Madeira with these new bottlings from Le Gus't. I was a little worried about the ageing in Madeira wine casks, I must admit. Well, not at all. It's great. Beautiful agricultural nose with a touch of candied fruit on aeration. The woodiness doesn't take up all the space. On the palate, it's certainly vinous, with the barrel after the finish, but it's very greedy, very well-balanced and the woodiness is rather fine. I found it very good, at a very affordable price for its age and quality. Bravo to this bottler once again.

Clearly fuller and more intense than the just tasted RX12324 (Engenhos do norte, 6 years)The nose brings a lot of sweet dessert wine, light agricole and wood notes.On the palate, the heavy sweetness is found again and is wonderfully complemented by the barrel notes. In the aftertaste then rather floral.Very good rum, but overall does not really meet my taste.

Has a tendency to oxidize. Very well-integrated alcohol. Fruity, fresh nose. The palate is fruity, sweet and woody, but as the rum oxidizes, it becomes more gourmand, more pastry-like. You can almost taste a little cookie :) The finish is moderately long. There's a hint of licorice and a good cappuccino. The evolution is interesting, but I still found it a little expensive.

Real tasty, more fruits and sweetness than its younger brother 2010. I don't feel that it is more woody though in taste but rather in nose, it feels that the added aging had its impact there. Overall a well intermingle and Ballance between the parts of the pallate, a nice experience. The finish is quite similar in length as the 2010.
