La Roue des Rhums Advent Calendar 2023 No. 23. Here a La Favorite. For me, it has a predominant wine nose, I'd say red wine, but I have no idea about Wrin. On the palate then lots of wood, also spices and vegetal.

Advent calendar 2023. Did my sample go bad? It's simply bad, smell and taste of old cupboard, not even leather or cigar or wood, alcohol not integrated, not good.

15.10.2022 Going through samples at home. Notes Medium dark colour. Nose Light wood, faint roasted, light citrus, vegetal, Agricole, light grass, spice, sugarcane. Palate Light, round, light wood, light anise, light oily, faint smoke, vegetal, sugarcane, light citrus. Finish Medium long, fresh, light, light roasted wood, spice, light citrus, light vegetal.

Yo bros, La Favorite - exploration no.3 - 🇲🇶 - 49.8% For this third edition of the exploration series, La Favorite, the last family distillery of Martinique along with Neisson, crushed cane from the 2020 harvest. The obtained distillate then aged 18 months in 15 carefully selected barrels: 9 American oak barrels heated at high temperature 3 French oak barrels heated at medium temperature 3 French oak barrels heated at low temperature. This blend gives a juice where you find cherry (cherry blossom) accompanied by a bit of cumin and cocoa on the nose. On the palate the cherry is more present with also a bit of grape, sliced almond, vanilla and an atypical wood from Martinique (which I find a lot in other La Favorite cuvées) that gives a bit of bitterness. La Favorite – Exploration No.3 Exploration No.3 is part of the eponymous range from the La Favorite distillery (Martinique), a series highlighting different aspects of the house's know-how: choice of casks, vintages, or aging methods. This cuvée comes from a 2020 distillate, aged for 18 months in a set of 15 carefully selected casks: 9 American oak casks, heated at high temperature 3 French oak casks, heated at medium temperature 3 French oak casks, heated at low temperature The blend was carefully made and bottled at 49.8%, in 4,100 bottles. Tasting: Nose: Delicate aromas of cherry blossom, accompanied by discreet spices and light cocoa. The whole remains fine and floral. Palate: Cherry expresses itself more frankly, supported by notes of grape, almond, vanilla, and woodiness that brings a light and characteristic bitterness. Conclusion: An interesting and technically well-constructed cuvée, illustrating the search for originality in aging. That said, for an ESB (Élevé Sous Bois), it may not be a must-have in a personal collection, but rather a nice curiosity for fans of the distillery.
