Sipped neat with a good 15-20 minutes of air, this Trinidad Ten Cane leans into varnish and paint right up front, backed by sour cherry, red fruits and cedar. The palate goes almost industrial — metal, leather, a whiff of the "car repair shop" one taster loved — before a huge licorice finish takes over. At 63.4% it needs the rest and a drop of water.

#5907 29.10.2025 Relaxing with a few samples after work hoping my upset stomach will get better before leaving for Tom Buteneers wedding tomorrow. Nose Fresh, medium intense, wood, light vegetal, burnt, faint smoke, light nutts, anise, faint mint, fruits. Palate Oily, fresh, medium intense, wood, light roasted, light earthy, sugarcane, light anise, coffee, faint tar, tannins, cherry. Finish Medium to long, oily, wood, light roasted, tannins, dried fruit, light nutts. Empty glass Light vanilla, nutts, light caramel, faint mint, light coffee.

Phew... Basically a good ten cane from an aromatic point of view, but the alcohol is so poorly integrated that it's really exhausting to search for aromas here. Unfortunately, letting it breathe for a long time doesn't help here either. What remains is mainly the taste of burnt plastic, sorry. Addendum: on the second tasting a nice toffee berry sweetness is added, hence a slight improvement in the rating.

Lots of depth, an almost indecomposable melange of cask notes, tea, eucalyptus, and stewed fruits as well as dark spices. Intense without becoming extremely complex; in my eyes it never gets boring though. The finish is still a bit too fiery, which calls for slight deductions - aromatic but with nice complexity. Another proof that Ten Canes are increasingly turning into little surprise bags - here definitely in a positive way.

This is one of the gems hidden in the rum world. A weird one indeed, but really pleasant. On the nose, cherries and chocolate (Mon Chery anyone? Or it is an Italian only treat?), but also varnish and paint, plus a metallic note. Drink side, might be a car repair shop, dust and metal, some woodiness and astringency. Not an easy one, nor a rum you can drink everyday, but wow, a great one

Tasted at Cave Saint Seurin during a visit to Bordeaux. A fairly typical nose, promising something heavy on the palate. Around red fruits, wood, maybe a hint of anise, but above all a varnish well present throughout the tasting. I think you either love or hate this type of product, I liked it. Extra-long finish, alcohol a bit biting but nothing too annoying.

At first strong alcohol on the nose. After 20 minutes the spices and metallic workshop notes recede. On the palate then strong wood, candied fruit, and a bit of technical lacquer. What is really memorable about this rum is the really intense finish, which after a few seconds brought licorice to the forefront. Very pleasant.

Nose: Fresh fruits, apples, berries, red fruits, cherry wood, cedar wood, varnish, charred wood, leather, baking spices. Palate: Red fruits, sour cherry, berries, bitter, rubber, resin, smoky, grapefruit bitter zest, dark chocolate. Aftertaste: long, bitter, dry. Lot of spices, bitter chocolate, red fruits.

A very pleasant rum although some alcohol notes that fade with a bit of aeration. A good taste of candied fruit, raisins and blackberries take over the very pleasant varnish. A nice length always on candied red fruits with a slight metallic taste.
