"A pleasant surprise" is how more than one taster sums up this Antigua pot-still. Toasted coconut, dark caramel, vanilla and dried fruit up front, with solvent and a spicy oak backbone. At 65% it runs hot, and several people say the alcohol isn't perfectly integrated — give it 20-30 minutes in the glass and it opens right up. A few compare it to Foursquare.

This one was a huge surprise and when I look at the price tag you get a LOT for your money. Nicely fruity with spicy warm palate. The alcohol has been integrated pretty well. It needs to rest for 15-30 minutes to release all flavours and even the day after the glass smells wonderful.

Somewhere between velier 2012 and english Harbour 2015... Nevertheless, not nearly as good as the other two vintages. I am bothered by the iodine and solvent note, the alcohol could be a little better integrated and overall it is not as complex as the others and rather just caramel and slightly burnt. Definitely not a bad rum but long not at the level of the other Antigua single casks...

8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is a bourbon oriented, with toasted coconut, roasted wood notes like caramel, dried fruits with apricots, peaches and banana, solvents. On aeration, the wood is spicy with a cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, cardamom, nutty, creamy with toffee.Some molasses arises, musty.The rum is very balanced, a nice help is a mango, iodine pops up, quickly neutralized. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is again bourbon oriented with toasted coconut, dried apricots, raisins, well, bergamot, roasted wood notes like caramel, nuts, spices like cinnamon, vanilla and solvents.When the rum is rested, wood gives us even more with burnt sugar, spices like cinnamon and cardamom and pepper.The molasses brings tobacco and banana cannot hide from our tasting buds. 8,6:The finish is even better than palate with more balance, more creamy and round with the same notes as before, just a bit dry...

Also a great rum. For me, tropical fruits predominate on the nose, especially coconut, but vanilla can also be detected. The palate is then also slightly sweet, vanilla and caramel, but the coconut can also be recognized.

A good Antigua, better than the 1423 SBS which should be a sister cask. On the nose rich of butter, glue and vanilla, the taste is really consistent but in the aftertaste adds a bit of burnt wood. Really nice

I was expecting a lot from this rum which finally disappointed her.The nose is not expressive enough for me. Of the greediness with a caramel and vanilla. Solvents. But nothing more for me.In the mouth, I find that the alcohol crushes everything.Not for me.

Sharp and aggressive on the nose, but mellows out after a good 20-30 minutes. Then you get toasted coconut and dark caramel glazed pineapple followed by zingy lemongrass and zest. Active cask profile with lots of malt and almost overpowering vanilla. A touch of flowers and anise at the end. More toasted coconut in the mouth, now with clear apple influences that were less apparent on the nose. Again lots of influence from the cask with extreme caramelisation, vanilla and malt. It’s hot and peppery, counterbalanced by sweeter nuttiness, sugar-dusted breakfast cereal and pine resin. Very nice, sweet and lasting finish ultimately ending in bitter espresso. The alcohol is not integrated perfectly. This needs some time in the glass before it’s optimal. Still the price/quality at release is absolutely nutty.

In the nose a lot of vanilla, dried fruit, coconut, some chemistry and a bit dusty. Intense taste of dried fruit, cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa and coffee. The finish quite similar with a stronger trace of caramel, pralines, cocoa and coffee.

Wednesday bottle kill: The Nectar - Antigua 2015 - 7 years - High Congener - 65%. Distilled in 2015 at The Antigua Distillery (known for the English Harbour brand), this rum aged 7 years before being bottled at 65% in only 250 copies by the Belgian independent bottler The Nectar, under its The Nectar of the Daily Drams range. The High Congener designation announces a high concentration of congeners, compounds that enrich the rum's aroma. Nose: intense and indulgent, dominated by chocolate banana, with woody notes and a touch of tobacco. Mouth: a warm and creamy texture on a chocolate, vanilla, caramel and toffee profile. Finish: long and persistent, evoking a vanilla brioche. The strength is well present but perfectly integrated. I expected a heavier profile, and in the end, it approaches a more complex Foursquare. A nice surprise, and probably the best Antigua I've tasted so far! 🔥

My first Rum from Antigua, let's see what it tells. 👃 Combo of cooked vanilla + coconut cream + liquid caramel + dry and roasted wood. Some fruity notes of dried fruits, pineapple, and candied banana. Then, an unusual note of fermented jarred peppers, light solvents, and a salty smell of cooked vegetable brine, different from olives. Quite lively alcohol. 😋 You find the liveliness of the alcohol, not very well integrated, hot. The quartet vanilla/coconut/caramel/wood. Peppery and spicy spices. Bite of pine nut, conifer needles, thyme. You find some dried fruits and dried banana, trace of solvents, slight salty fermentation. ⛳ Long, lively, astringent, hot, alcoholic, dry. Rather woody and herbal. On one side, the combo coconut/vanilla/caramel, espresso with a bit of Van Houten cocoa, on the other side, tobacco leaf, dryness of pine, wild thyme. 💡 It lacks a bit of balance and integration of the ABV. The smells of cooked vegetables on the nose with the molasses side are confusing. The conifer aspect (pine nut, fir, needles) is surprising but undeniably a plus for this Rum.

First rum from Antigua. Reminds me strongly of Foursquare and I'm not a fan of those. Alcohol could be better integrated. After some time it gets better and objectively it's not a bad rum, but it's just not my profile.

A nose very focused on indulgent caramel, on the palate the alcohol is not very well integrated, you find caramel and solvent with a bitterness without any indulgence despite a slight sweetness.

A pleasant surprise after the abs. Much toned down in the sweetness. Maritime and iodine with some nut butter. Way better alcohol integration. This is really lovely and a great rum. Some tobacco out of a distant pipe finishes this nice dram
