You might get the impression that this rum is just sugar meeting alcohol, without really leaving room for anything else. The best thing about the rum is the smell, nicely pleasantly sweet, you feel like you're on clouds of cotton candy. I would avoid drinking Puerto de Ayas neat; in cocktails or even a rum and cola it's quite passable, even rather unobtrusive, but as long as this rum can't hide behind other flavor profiles, unfortunately you only experience sugar and glue.
