Today there's a 4-rum flight New Yarmouth 1994. One of my favorite profiles, Appleton 21yr goes SVW. #4 goes to Thompson Bros. A bit woodier, simpler, from memory very similar to Kill Devil. #3 the Valinch & Mallet. More balanced, a bit softer, less strong (as far as you can speak of that in the 60% range) and additionally a pleasant biscuit/baked goods note. #2, now it gets tight, the Excellence Rhum. Hammer nose with a wonderful animal note like Caroni 21 Extra Strong, a bit woodier in the mouth. Coconut and dried apricot. #1 goes to Swell de Spirits. Very strong, round and balanced. Dried apricot, which I like very much. In the mouth the hammer, warm, a bit less wood than the others, long, great finish.

Requires 20min to become a rum gourmand on the oak barrel, chocolate, vanilla and fruit.in the mouth the same with toasted and a little bitter side of the barrel.excellent 🤤

Boom! Another phenomenal 1994 NY! The nose just hits like a sledge hammer, massively complex, definitly give it some time in the glass to calm down. On the palate it's typical well aged jamaican from this vintage, complex, dried fruits, dark chocolate/mocha/coffee, vanilla and then there is the wood influence without being too bitter. Can tell its spent most of its time in the tropics, its so complex. The alcahol is so well integrated, you just couldn't tell its 2/3rds straight booze! this seems to be a common theme with these 94s. The 3 I have tried so far (corman collins, swell and now this one) are all just amazing rums. A long dry finish.

Bam, once you open this bottle you know where in the world you are. An elegant and yet fruity rum with some wood, smoke, spice and delicious fruit. A bit expensive but we'll worth the money 😀

today two venerable representatives of their profession: the Excellence Rhum NY 94 in comparison with the FRC Bottle Shop NY 94. Both 27/28 years spent in the barrel, both of them 24 in tropical climes, both 67.8% ABV. Therefore not surprising that both are very similar on the nose at first, with decent coconut, vanilla and barrel. The ER goes perhaps a bit more in the direction of anise, polish and cake. The FRC tends more towards tropical fruit (papaya), marzipan and candied orange peel. I can hardly make out any differences on the palate. The high ABV is equally well integrated in both. Bottom line for me both on the same level.

An incredibly flavorful column, the nose is delicious, the palate is superb too, coconut with vanilla praline, candied fruits coated with caramel and milk chocolate with a nice toasted woody finish. Excellent!

8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is quite spicy with cinnamon, vanilla, intense, the wood is roasted with chocolate, caramelized roasted nuts, the molasses brings tobacco and we have coconut and citrus fruits. On aeration, a wave of fruits like dried apricots, currants and red fruits join the game. 9:On the palate, the attack is delicious, fruity with coconut and banana, dried fruits, the wood is roasted with nuts, confectionery, butterscotch, spicy and dry, as the molasses is rather dark with licorice and black tea, herbaceous.On oxidation, the wood is smoky, oaky, perhaps some leather joins, the yellow, citrus fruits are in the game, perhaps they are candied. 8,9:The finish is long, tannic, round with roasted wood notes, smoky and spicy, toasted coconut, dried apricots, banana and orange peel, as the molasses is earthy with cigar tobacco, pencil shavings. A New Yarmouth with an atypical profile, offering something quite different from Jamaican esters. The nose is very elegant and complex, with beautiful pastry notes, sweet spices and chocolate, followed by a basket of exotic fruit, orange and dried fruit. On the palate, spices come first before giving way to roasted notes, nuts, espresso flavors and a light smoky woodiness. Coconut and dried fruit add deliciousness to this rum, whose 67.8% alcohol content is very well integrated. The long, warm, dry finish extends the toasty, roasted flavors described above. A fine selection from Excellence Rhum.

One of my favourite rums. Nose - after opening you immediately feel vanilla, cream and sweet caramel/marzipan. After first taste you want another one. It is like if you take the best bonbon out of the box.

For me a solid 1994 New Yarmouth. I believe there really isn't a bad release from this vintage. For me, this one is in the upper mid-range of my favorite profile. What slightly spoiled the mood for me was the poor fill level of Excellence Rhum.

Tasted at the Excellence Rhum boutique, a wonderful discovery. The New Yarmouth is very light chocolate coconut spice, and then comes a tangy side and candied / dried fruits. 68 degrees that go unnoticed, and a crazy length. A real treat.

👃 = La force de ce spiritueux s'exprime sans détour dans un concentré des fruits jaunes mûrs baignant avec du vernis boisé, légèrement vanillé et chocolaté.. 👄 = Comme l'alcool est très présent (trop ?) il faut prendre tout son temps pour apprécier ce rhum riche et gourmand avec ses saveurs de fruits secs, de caramel, d'un peu de café et de cannelle. La finale est longue, pâtissière, poivrée et un peu amère. Que voilà un rhum intense, fruité, pâtissier que je trouve trop alcooleux mais avec une goutte d'eau cela passe mieux 👍

08-11-2025 - Rate 9.4 Yes I’m a sucker for New Yarmouth. Have only tasted amazing 94’ New Yarmouth and this one is no different. Nose with wood/oak, dried fruit and spice. Palate follows the nose close with a hint of coconut and banana. Long finish dominated by wood and oak.

Grundsolider New Yarmouth 1994 mit der typischen Stilistik aus satter Bourbonvanille, Kokosnuss, Karamell und frischer Tropenfruchtaromatik. Das Eichenholzfass hinterlässt nach 27 Jahren ebenfalls seine Spuren, das jedoch keineswegs in überbordender Form - die Reifung ist gelungen, Bitternoten sind kaum vorzufinden. Die Abzüge in der B-Note folgen jedoch bei der Alkoholintegration, an dieser Stelle vermag das Release im Vergleich zu anderen Abfüllungen aus dem 1994er Vintage nicht voll zu überzeugen - es bleibt zu viel Biss am Gaumen. Trotzdem ein ausgezeichneter Rum.

1994 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - Teil 1: Der letzte Rum für heute… Gleiches ABV von 67,6% wie der RX22650 von FRC. Trotzdem ist der Alkohol hier etwas mehr wahrnehmbar. Im Vergleich zu den anderen 1994 NY aus der heutigen Runde gefällt mir die etwas rauchige und fast schon dreckige Note in der Nase.

Color- really dark. Nosing -vanilla caramel and chocolate. Taste- woody caramel and fruits..and somewhere in the background I still feel funky tones typical for Jamaica and some cherries or sweet candies.. The alcohol is fully incorporated

The rum is powerful, greedy on solvents and tropical fruits, we find the Jamaican side but much softer in ester "column distillation" it is the best rum that I tasted for the moment!

Classic New Yarmouth for a 94, in the (very) top tier. Tropical fruits, caramel, grilled coconut, an almost cognac barrel side. From nose to palate, everything is coherent and without a false note. Very close to the Swell NY 94. A marvel!
