01.02.2025 retasting at the Nordlichter tasting. --------------------------- Another release where the price tag is really good compared to what you get. Fruity with natural sweetness and caramel. The palate is nice and warm as I like it and the chocolate and coffee balances the overall profile. I had to rest it for a good while before the flavours really came through.

Overall a great rum that’s fresh, complex and unmistakable an English Harbour that tastes quite much as the 5yo, but of course with stronger tastes thanks to the higher ABV that I bought a sample of from RhumAttitude. It’s a single barrel selection from Antigua Distillery Ltd distilled in 2015 based on molasses in their column still. It’s aged in an ex-bourbon cask, bottled at cask strength at ABV 64,9% in just 257 bottles.

Pretty typical Antigua high congeners style, a bit weaker than peers being less fruity. On the nose, caramel vanilla and coconut, but also hints of chocolate. All of this will appear again when drinking along with some wood and spices.

Not very complex, but very drinkable. Nice coconut notes and pleasant sweetness. Burns a little too much. Addendum: I have just shared a bottle of this in the forum and tasted the rum again when bottling. The overall impression is confirmed. The alcohol could be a little better integrated, but overall I think the bottling is slightly underrated.

10/09/2026: tasting @ home. I don't have a lot of experience with rums from Antigua, this is my first one. The nose is pretty pleasant, on the sweet and fruity side. However the palate can't convince me. It lacks complexity and tastes rather young and alcoholic. Give it time to rest in the glass. To be honest, I regret buying a full bottle.

Wow, not bad, this rum is more on the sweet side, which I really like, especially at 30° degrees. The nose is dominated by cream toffee and on the palate it's not very reminiscent of Milka's cow's milk chocolate. The only thing that bothers me is that the alcohol is quite sharp-edged and not too well integrated. Otherwise there would certainly have been more in it.

I'll probably never understand why Antigua is so underrated in the rum world. Here again a great rum with a complex flavor profile and moreover a clear signature palate of the distillery!

Sweet and greedy nose on coconut, caramel and vanilla touches. One could think of a rum from Barbados.In the mouth, it is hot at first. Then again coconut and caramel are present with a touch of woody and vegetal bitterness in the background.Alcohol too present for me to appreciate well.

A fruity floral nose as in the Caribbean...wonderfully beguiling...so opens the game on the palate, a heavy sweetness with lots of tropical fruit. The longer it lingers in the mouth, nut, chocolate and vanilla flavors are added. It becomes slightly pimento towards the end, and some ester joins in as well. In the finish it remains on the coarse herbaceous side! A very multi-faceted rum, but a little too unbalanced for me.

A similar nose to the other English Harbour rums, only here with a crazy herbal addition and distinct wood note. During the tasting the aromas also changed a lot, very interesting. On the palate mainly spicy sharp, slight sweetness, wood, while in the finish the herbs plus coffee/chocolate come back. If the sharpness in the mouth were a bit milder, this would certainly be an above-average very good rum.

Northern Lights Meeting 2025: In the nose first of all a bit of glue, vanilla and some fruit. In the mouth then strong, slightly sweet, spicy with a good pepper note. Perhaps a little thin. Very chocolatey, medium-long finish.

Let this rum sit in the glass as it seems require some time to open up. On the nose: Vanilla, coconut, caramel come up first. There are cocoa and woody notes under that. In overall, typical Antigua rum notes. Taste: Quite hot at first and the alcohol could be integrated better. Vanilla, coconut, spices like pepper, woody notes. Then you get chocolate notes and caramel notes. Finish: Coffee notes like mocha pop up. Woody notes. Chocolate notes. Toffee and caramel notes bring sweetness. Long finish. I also have point out that the integration of the alcohol didnt really work well in this, otherwise a good rum, that has good notes and nice finish.

Even though the alcohol content is quite noticeable on the palate, which shouldn't be surprising at nearly 65%, this rum develops an appealing creaminess with notes of chocolate, vanilla, and coconut. A few fruity facets are also present, making for a nice rum overall that reminds me of a Foursquare or a Travellers in terms of profile.

C: Gold S: The first sense is sharp, typical of column still Spanish style. It’s a bit closed. After 10 minutes I smell coconut and a pungent citrus note I sometimes get in agricoles. Oranges and peaches as well although in less volume. M: Spanish-rum-sweetness not always pleasure but in this case it works “just” fine. I also get weak coffie and again coconut. F: Not too long with some with pepper. I would describe this Antigua rum as a light Foursquare with a twist, whether you read it as a pungent citrus agricole note or High Congener. Questions: Is there other rums like this one on the market? No, unless you can find the Velier 2012. Is this a good rum for beginners getting into Singel Cask/Cask Strength? I would say Yes! Is this a rum for me? No, too sweet!

Quite close to the English Harbour High Congener Series 2014 (first batch) 63.8°. Same bottle opened and rested for several years, so well oxidized. Nose lighter, less roasted, more nutty (walnut, wet wood). A slightly bitter, even rancid side. Monoï. A tangy hint (like apple candy). Nose oscillates between pleasant and meh. Palate: alcohol better integrated than expected (it was very harsh at the start of the bottle), overall pleasant and indulgent, with a pastry-like profile. Finish average. Slightly better than the 2014.

Tasted as a 5cl sample and my first rum from Antigua. The nose reminds me very strongly of pre-Christmas. Coconut, vanilla, nutmeg and caramel remind me of baking cookies with mulled wine. Is felt very similar to Barbados but by these associations yet somehow different.Taste a rather simple profile, but very round and coherent. All in all, very tasty, but no complexity miracle.A nice chocolaty finish.

Much better than the 2014-2020 HC version. This one is also sweeter than the Daily Dram bottling, which is kind of bitter. I am not the biggest fan of Antigua rums, yet I think this is a very good dram.

Sweet nose with vanilla, coconut, some tropical fruits and a hint of herbs and brioche (?) in the back. Similar on the palate with a touch of woody bitterness embedded in the mix which adds a bit more complexity. Very enjoyable overall.

The nose is not very expressive unlike the mouth.it is greedy and intense! A little lime goes through to refresh the whole and excite the mouth.the final is rather average on cappuccino, tiramisu.

Bottle Hello to you 92 at Lonely Keiner. Right from the start the smell is amazing. Scent of bright fruits. Tropical. Strawberries. And honey. Very strong and intense. It slowly develops and becomes sweet, a bit grassy, but the dominant notes are jasmines. Bright fruits like arpeggio, berries. Strawberries etc. Very special but not 92 🙂

Diving into Antiguan rums tonight. Exciting new profile for me. Coconut, lots of creaminess and pretty sweet. In general it feels quite indulgent to drink, although it can be sharp and biting at times. It reminds me of toffifee and rich milk chocolate. Doesn’t linger for too long. All in all a pleasant rum to drink.

Intense nose, glue, caramel and oak with coconut. The mouth is layered with wood and white chocolate and some tropical fruits. The finish is intense with hot and peppery notes which last for a long time, as well as mocha elements. Overall it’s a solid rum but nothing special

This is a nice reminder of what the house of English harbour could be, if they were not to make the cask selection themselves. Those rums shine with their sweet complexities. but still my excitement is not pant wetting
