Great guyana lechce technique cream. And the smell. Beautifully complex

Very close to the PM profile. In my eyes superior to the 2012 SBS.

A new boring tasting session with young pot still single cask Guyanese rums. Kill Devil 12y, 61,1% Barikenn 8y, 63,3% The Nectar 10y, 62,5% SBS 10y, 64,6% C: W wine N: 5min in and this is oily, buttery and salty. Do I also get vanilla ice cream? After a few moments, celery and granny apple peel and brine. For me The Nectar has the best nose, and it all has to do with the fact that I’m a sucker for sweet oiliness in rums. M: Almost elegant taking into consideration that this is a rather young pot still rum. Probably aged in Europa also. Red apples command the taste. It is also smoky and floral. A bit acetonic and with rubber bands. F: Short but sweet. B: Yes. Why boring? Every rum brings something slightly different, but I like them all.

Nose is reminiscent of other young PMs with wood and some continental fruits. Starts off with intense burnt notes. Some herbs with anis. A hint of chocolate appears over time. On the palate I get some acidity which I attribute to the high proof. However, the taste is surprisingly sweet with toffee and raisins which show up unexpectedly. Don’t take this wrong, this is very powerful and demanding stuff, far off from crowd pleasing sweetness of course. While this is the first AW I had in the glas I’m somewhat intrigued by the profile. Happy to explore some more bottlings. On the first go, SBS and the Nectar feel pretty similar. The latter maybe a little less sweet with more chocolate rather than toffee. Alcohol noticeable in both bottlings

This was the last one of the batch and compared to the price tag I think you get pretty much. Nicely fruity and natural sweet and I like the nuttiness in the glass once empty.

I like this one much better. Reminds me of a young PM97. Beautiful fruit notes, anise, caramel. Overall, it could still use a longer maturation. Of course, not to be compared with the tropically matured Albions.

Kommt an andere Albions nicht ran, aber doch ziemlich spannend. Wenn man nicht direkt mit der Erwartung eines Albions ran geht! Apfel, Holz, Kräuter und getrocknete Früchte mit etwas süße. Schon mal was anderes.

The nose is tangy, herbal, and very vegetal. There’s sparse fruitiness from grapes, maybe even leaning to light raisins, but foremost there’s rhubarb (in all its glory!). Earthiness and spices encompass the profile only adding fuel to the aged agricole idea. The wood is somehow subdued and more closely resembles soaked cardboard boxes. Very different experience on the palate. Much more woody than expected and barely any fruits left to be found. We continue with chamomile tea, followed by an olive brine saltiness. It’s still quite sweet, but definitely guided by strong medicinality. There’s isobutanol and lots of metal. This is a challenging rum. The finish is short with more grapes, wood and tea. The metal lingers for quite a bit.

Today the two Albion of S.B.S and the Nectar tasted against each other! On the nose, both are almost identical..on the palate then reveal differences! The Nectar is creamier softer and rounder, although the alcohol is not as well integrated as the SBS. The mixture of fruit. Spice and plantiness I find here clearly more pleasing, also in the finish he convinces me with the better intensity.for me the clear winner!

Tasted with the SBS 2012 Albion with which this can not quite keep up. The SBS is slightly "fatter", spicier and has wine nicer sweetness. The mouthfeel is also nicer on the SBS. This one is fresher, more peppery and drier.

I originally guessed Jamaica, but now I smell Guyana
Review by Frank
A young Guyana, without question. Albion DNA is not discernible for me.Nose: spicy, fruity, an herbal impact and slightly toasty. The first thing I got was apple with fig and floral honey. There are also herbs, some chili and a hint of caraway. The caraway gets even stronger with time. Still seems quite fresh, which is certainly also due to the 62%. Reminds me of a young PM.Palate: dry, bitter and slightly spicy. Spicy-woody-slightly toasty. Again, more of a young PM. Lime zest and green apple are prominent, nutmeg and caraway come behind. Seems metallic, copper with iodine. Overall, it is too edgy and immature for me.

Good Guyana well integrated but too woody and spicy for me.

I've had this bottle for a while now and the profile hasn't changed much over time. I Prefer the nose to the taste. The nose if fruity, buttery, spicy and vegetal. The taste on the other hand is more dry and bitter. Here I get some burnt and musty notes. The alcohol integration could have been better.
