Le Galion Rhum Martinique grand arôme (1950s)
Menthol, dark cherry and a heavy molasses sweetness lead this old-school Le Galion grand arôme. Despite the modest 44%, several tasters note it doesn't drink thin — one calls it "alte Schule," round and balanced, with blackcurrant, cinnamon, tannins and bitter orange. The nose wins people over; a couple feel it fades a bit on the palate and runs short on the finish.
- Great nose
- Heavy molasses sweetness
- Body despite low ABV

How does Le Galion Rhum Martinique grand arôme (1950s) taste?
Aggregated from 16 community reviews.
Vintage grand arôme, menthol and molasses Loved for its vintage, well-integrated character — menthol, molasses and dark fruit over a surprising body for the ABV. Common gripe: the palate and finish don't fully match the nose.

Großartig! Alte Schule. Schön ausgewogen, trotz der wenigen Prozente nicht dünn, viel Melasse, fruchtig-grasig mit dunklen, leicht muffigen Guyana-Note.

Ungewöhnlicher Agricole. Geht Richtung Le Galion. Hat eine schöne, schwere Süße.

#4163 A very nice Agricole with a slightly atypical profile. Loved the menthol and floral notes and the ABV was well integrated.

Very round vintage grand arome. Lots of currant, sour cherry, menthol, cinnamon gum, tannins and bitter orange . Yummy! Would love to test in full proof!
