So this is really crazy 😃 somehow the taste reminds me extremely of absinthe and ouzo together with the slightly fermented compost and meat note typical of TECA and some cocoa and other tropical fruits. In contrast to my final opponent Teca 2003, however, this is pleasant due to this aniseed freshness (although I hate aniseed!) Furthermore, the alcohol is incredibly well integrated at 76%, which definitely deserves extra points even if I definitely wouldn't need a bottle of this 😃 let's put it this way: it's so perverse that it's good again🤣 Meanwhile I get notes of cherry brandy and marzipan in the finish. Holy shit awesome stuff!!! 🔥

Woohoo what a grenade... Brachial Long Pond 😎 Alcohol incredibly well integrated and at an incredible 76% 😳😳😳😳 Dilution, Uhu come first, Bääähm💥 full in the Fre... e .... Gradually it opens up and fruits, wood, honey and of course "umami" come through well. An insane drop!!!! I am thrilled.... Let's see what he delivers in May Tai.

A grenade! The question about the integration of the alcohol at 76% needs to be answered first. It is very well integrated! Astringent on the palate and on the dark Jamaica side. Funky estwr with sour cherry, honey and fleshy spicy notes. Super! The finish is unfortunately not long enough to get any more out of it. Either way, a super piece! Second tasting: +1 point.

Once again a remarkable bottling from Plantation. Does not come for me in the spheres of the 2002 Hampden, but these extremely high-proof releases offer aromatically a very impressive spectrum. There are rich tropical fruits, citrus notes, plus rather subtle accompanying aromatics of wood, spice and tart sweetness. The present level at this high alcohol strength and the called, very fair prices actually hardly fits into the current time. I can't help but pay Plantation great respect for this.

Very tasty Jamaican with a nice tropical maturity and great ABV - that's how I like it. Pleasantly dry on the palate with a nice astringency. Lots of esters and plenty of oomph. The cognac finish works very well - as is often the case with this type of rum.

Very successful bottling with intense aromas of ripe pineapple, overripe bananas and fermented tropical fruits. In the background there are slightly medicinal notes, some solvent and subtle spices. The texture is oily, the taste complex and deep, with well-integrated alcohol strength and long finish. A powerful and typical Jamaican that offers a lot to discover.

A great LP that shows its age! It is more on the dark side, which suits it very well! You can feel the 76%, but it is well integrated. After some time in the glass it becomes much more harmonious

I have been interested in this for a long time. I love LP, and then here such an old with mighty wums!Nose: nice compact, intense and tasty. Once the initial % boost is gone, you have a great aroma play. Max 150 esters let the fruity aromas come through nicely. Blood orange, currant and raisin. Age gives a nice woodiness, lightly toasted and malty with some cocoa powder. Heavy sweetness of cream toffee and vanilla. Wow!Palate: blatantly astringent at the start, it lays down a great flavor curve through slightly bitter, strong esters, sour pineapple, to cassis, green apple and woody flavors. Then out the back some leather, very light licorice and papaya. The alcohol is fantastically integrated. 19 J tropical 4 J cognac barrel actually do it very well. Great rum!

Exciting rum. The nose is really interesting and keeps revealing new aromas, even though you can feel the high ABV a bit. On the palate, I miss some fruity aromas. Alcohol well absorbed. Edit 2nd tasting: I really like the nose with dried fruits, coconut, caramel, vanilla, tropical fruits, and a bit of glue and esters. The high ABV is undeniable but doesn't bother much. With more time in the glass, the profile drifts a bit towards fermented and dairy products (sour). On the palate, quite astringent with mostly spicy notes, some wood, leather, and licorice. On the palate, it loses a few points for me, yet a great piece with plenty of power!!

The sheer power on the nose is overwhelming at first... after about 20 minutes it opens up and you get a heavy sweetness of tropical fruits, along with herbal broth, chewing tobacco, furniture polish, caramel. On the palate, typical LP notes of roast gravy, balsamic, caramel, old toasted barrel, on the finish black tea. The 76% is quite brutal, but the long tropical aging has rounded off the edges to a bearable level 😊 First-class stuff!

Remarkable ABV but surprisingly well integrated. This stuff really brings joy: an extremely powerful Long Pond – the 76% alcohol is clearly present but well integrated and not disturbing at all. It strongly reminds me of the Velier TECA releases. I especially like the consistent line: from the nose through the palate to the finish, it remains harmonious and coherent. Only at the very end do oak and a certain dryness become more pronounced.

Thanks to Serge for opening this one. Nice Long Pond, brings everything it should/must/can bring. But with the range of last night this one is unfortunately a bit far from excellent, with the tough competition. But a super delicious piece. And of course in a completely different price league, but it delivers great for that.

The nose is a bit closed even with aeration. The palate is impressive. You get tropical fruits and the esters of a Jamaican with markers of a rum aged a long time under the tropics (woody, cocoa, leather). It's pleasant, the palate is long. The alcohol is incredibly integrated.

Very powerful Long Pond, the 76% are noticeable but do not interfere. This rum reminds me very much of Velier TECA bottlings. I like the consistency from nose to palate to finish. Only at the very end does oak and dryness push to the fore. Unfortunately out of stock.

Really great and intensive Long Pond, strong fruity esters (pineapple and banana) with different solvents. There are lots of spices, a little bit of leather, chocolate and wood in addition. The is really strong and it is almost a bit too complex. A few drops of water are widening the palate a bit. 8.7 without water / 8.9 with water. Great drop!

Incredibly spicy Long Pond. The fruitiness is clearly in the background. Great woodiness with nice esters and quite spicy. The 76% is very integrated as far as that is naturally possible. This one is definitely fun.

The penultimate for today, a killer Long Pond at 76%. Also typical Jamaican style, tropical fruits (banana and pineapple), esters as well as solvents and very funky. On the palate, alongside the fruitiness, some wood and spice join in.

Nose Medium intense, light wood, light roasted, light solvents, light caramel, glue, pineapple, ester. Wow, everything tightens up in the mouth at once. Still surprisingly drinkable. At first, the glue smell covers a lot, but then alongside the fruits also some finer spicy aromas emerge. Like a spicy banana bread.

Not for the faint-hearted. Foreword: the alcohol is well integrated for the strength, but we're still talking about 76%. Lots of resting time and small sips are advised. While I found the first sip unspectacular, the rum gets better with every sip. Wood and ester fight for dominance, the alcohol tames the notes, the esters slip back into meaty. Strongly astringent, almost chewable. Not for easy sipping, rather evening-filling. Do I need a whole bottle? Hm. Is the rum great? Definitely.

Alcohol is very well integrated given the strength. On the nose it felt a bit light for me. Much more intense on palate with some nice balance between sweet and sour fruitiness, wood and some aniseed notes.

Nice Long Pond nose with lots of tropical fruits and plenty of esters. On the palate then intense and strong. Really a nice rum that I would buy if it pops up again. Definitely has character.

At first, I thought this would be some Jamaican rum, but I admit I'm not a fan of higher proofs and don't really enjoy them. As a sample for tasting, it's fine, but I wouldn't want a bottle. The nose has wood, the taste is sharp – for a 23-year-old rum, it's not smooth or rounded, on the contrary, it's full of strength, somewhat reminiscent of sailor's rum... pleasant finish and the aftertaste lingers long on the palate.
