German Rum Festival 2023 #stillnotapro German Rum Festival 2023 #stillnotapro Caramel in the nose and taste is underlined by deeper complex tones from the casks (French oak and Armagnac). Here you also get coconut and ripe fruits. Very friendly and transparent distiller at the booth.

Really nice nose - but taste unfortunately really very woody, bitter sour and extremely dry and furry astringent ... Here, the otherwise so beautiful fruity spicy Chalong bay rum unfortunately has no chance against Armagnac cask and Virgin oak to arrive... Too bad! Had I hoped for more of.

Somehow doesn't quite hit my taste, but otherwise quite okay. Hardly definable nose, for me here vanilla and tropical fruits. On the palate then wood and spices come in. Otherwise quite alcoholic. Average, nothing more.

A young Thai rum with plenty of flavor and deliciousness. The nose combines the floral and vegetal flavors of sugarcane with exotic fruits (lychee) and citrus fruits for a very round, smooth whole. Mild spices add a touch of complexity. The attack on the palate is more lively, carried by lots of spice, notes of young wood and some empyreumatic flavors that have had a certain impact on the profile despite the slight ageing. Floral notes and exotic fruits return in force, with a few mineral and caramelized notes to complement. Overall, the wine is well realized and the alcohol well integrated. On the finish, the fruit is more subdued, replaced by menthol, floral, herbal and spicy notes. Good length. A very pleasant rum with a varied profile, confirming Asia's rise to prominence in the rum market.

Tried at the 12 GRF in Berlin: For the short aging surprisingly much influence from the cask (Virgin Oak). With higher proof and older definitely potential available.

#7405 25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. Quick notes while tasting. Fresh, grass, sugarcane, floral, fruits, spice, sweet, peppery, mint, herbs, roasted wood, mint.

Atypical. Recommended to a sake lover because you find tastes and smells of plants, fermentation. For a rum lover, it's a bit short but not boring. It deserves to be discovered and has its place in a bar due to its singular character. I'd like to taste the same but more "hairy," with 8 or 12 degrees more.
