Sipped neat it drinks drier and more bitter than most Foursquare fans expect, though a couple of tasters preferred it over ice or as a mixer. Expect the classic house trio — vanilla, toasted coconut and oak — plus black pepper, milk chocolate and a bit of orange peel and glue on the nose. At 61% the alcohol sits well-integrated, not hot.

#5257 18.04.2025 Enjoying some samples at home while listening to some nice EDM. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, sweet, fruity, light orange, light banana, light caramel, faint chocolate. Palate Light wood, round, light coconut, light chocolate, faint caramel, pineapple, dried fruit, light roasted. Finish Long, fresh, light oily, light wood, fruits, spice, light citrus, light chocolate. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, dried fruit, light caramel, faint citrus.

Edit: got another sample thanks to SaibotZtar. Better as a mixer than pure, but it's still not good enough compared to the other Foursquare I've tried. In terms of taste, this Foursquare is more on the bitter side, the typical Foursquare notes are clearly recognizable on both the nose and palate. Personally, I don't think this bottling is entirely successful because, as I've already said, it's a little too tart for me.

Comparatively distinct bitter notes for a Foursquare. Again solid bouquet, overall somewhat on the tart side. Qualitatively high quality, taste quite with exciting profile - very typical Foursquare with present spiciness.

On aeration, pineapple and red fruits arise, some candied, coffee, dark chocolate, biscuits, cookie dough, leather, spicy with allspice, green pepper, molasses is earthy. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with glue, fruity with dried fruits like raisins and apricots, tropical fruits with pineapple, coconut, later mango with sour cherry, berries, the wood is toasted with sweet, oily chocolate, caramel, nuts, coffee, tannic, spicy vanilla, allspice, nutmeg, peppery, molasses is earthy, herbaceous. 8,6:The finish is rather long, dry&tannic, slightly metallic, oily, sweet with toasted oak notes like maple, nuts, dark chocolate, caramel, cappuccino, bubble gum hints, leather, spicy with black pepper, allspice, molasses is earthy, floral and fruits are coconut, raisins, dried apricots, orange, berries, red fruits hints..

Solid 2006 Foursquare. Roasted coconut, green pepper, dark chocolate, delicious cappuccino with caramel syrup and some apricot, raisin and other dried fruits. Alcohol very well integrated. Very balanced.

Whisky Fair Rhein-Ruhr Düsseldorf April 2026. And then next a Foursquare from 2006. The best so far today. Again, lots of fruit and coconut recognizable here, also some vanilla and caramel.

Such a lovely Foursquare expression, very nice concentration of flavours with that classic Foursquare "house style" trio - vanilla, coconut and woody barrel influence. The alcohol is nicely integrated. Hands up to the guys from The Colours of Rum for selecting this cask.

Rainy evening is great for another sample…from Barbados. Aroma was not what I was expected. Lot of glue, coconut, nuttmeg, oak and pepper… lot od pepper. I noticed som citrus fragrance and orange peel. Really interesting combination for Foursquare. Taste was more Foursquare-y, and more what I am used with rums from this destillery. At first I noticed glue, after that some oak, black pepper and coffee. With another sip I noticed vanilla and hint of a milk chocolate. Finish was short, fresh, little bit oily, nutty and I noticed some oak and cappuccino. Nice sample for rainy day when you have nothing to do. Will I buy the whole bottle?? Probably not, but It was nice experience.

Typical rum from Barbados. The strength is not noticeable in the taste at all. Only chocolate, spices and pepper. In the nose I feel citrus fruits, vanilla and sweet caramel. For me an excellent rum that I would gladly add to my home collection.
