Sip this one slowly and neat — at 67% it's fiery, but the alcohol sits so well integrated that the heat never bullies you. Menthol and black tea run through it, with tropical fruit (banana, lime, pineapple), varnish and glue, dry oak and a whiff of smoke behind. Twenty-five years old and still unmistakably Clarendon. Complex, spicy, more herbal-dry than sweet.

Rum Club Switzerland CoR tasting. A sweet, fruity nose with a marked vanilla woodiness. Spices with cardamom, fresh tropical fruit and a slight smokiness. Full-bodied on the palate, with fruit and acidity, the wood is present but not heavy, counterbalanced by the freshness of the fruit and a vegetal, minty edge. The finish is lovely, with fruit, acidity, wood and, at the very end, the freshness of menthol. Astonishing!

Very pleasant mint notes on the nose. Intense, spicy and some tropical fruit. Balanced yet complex on the palate. Pleasant bitterness of black tea. Little fruit and rather dry spicy. I like very much!

I like this one a lot. The fruit is very light on the profile and I like the light roasted wood notes. ABV is pretty well integrated.

Does not quite keep pace with the '95 vintage, but still moves sicug at a high level. Again, juicy fruit esters, tea, mint, fiery spice, wood and some smoke - aromatically very impressive.

A pleasant, versatile Clarendon. The nose opens with a wide variety of notes: tropical fruit (banana, mango, papaya) and menthol add deliciousness to a lively, powerful nose. Woody, varnished and roasted notes are joined by hints of chili and glue to intensify the whole. A rather complete profile with cachet. On the palate, Clarendon shows its firepower: wood and empyreumatic notes combine with medicinal notes to bring warmth and intensity to the palate. Exotic fruits (lime, pineapple) combine once again with menthol and herbaceous notes (black tea) to bring a freshness that contrasts with the rest. The profile is powerful yet complex, even offering a fine balance of flavors. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is not to be outdone, offering a dry, spicy (ginger) and smoky woodiness, accompanied by tobacco and medicinal notes. Tea, menthol and fruit (papaya, lime, dried fruit) bring the ball back to center around this lovely aromatic duality. A lovely Clarendon that offers a rich, pleasurable experience throughout the tasting.

An excellent Clarendon but not as good as its older brother from 1996

Old Clarendon are lovely, 1995/1997 especially. This one unfortunately is not excellent because glue and butyric acid taste is clearly noticeable, and I cannot get past it. Plus, alcohol is strong. It's a pity because beside that taste is nice, especially vanilla on the nose and mint when drinking.
