Don't expect the usual Hampden glue-bomb — this one leads with fruit, not funk. Twenty-nine years in cask has turned it soft and oily: ripe pineapple, mango and overripe banana up front, then a green herbal-tea and mint edge several tasters flag as the twist. A faint salty note runs through it. At 58% the alcohol sits perfectly integrated, and the finish just won't quit.

Again, an excellent and classic Hampden from the 1992 vintage. A bit sweeter and also wilder than Ed. 4. Also more salt. I like the herbaceous, spicy note from the sister cask a tad better.

#5339 23.05.2025 Enjoying some samples while watching Mission Impossible 1. Nose Medium intense, light wood, faint smoke, light olive, faint tar, light caramel, faint anise, fruits, light mango, light glue. Palate Medium intense, oily, light wood, light caramel, light olive, light anise, faint tar, fruits, light pineapple, faint mint, light varnish. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint mint, faint caramel, light clove, light pineapple. Empty glass Olive, light caramel, light banana, light clove, light mint.

Yeah, mega outstanding Hampden in my opinion. Wow, relatively few esters, but it's very fruity, mostly (overripe) banana and pineapple here. Definitely mega tasty this Hampden :-)

12th GRF, Colours of Rum Tasting. Quick and short... Nose: bacony esters, fine lemon, good middle. Palate: nicely fruity, rendered fat here too. Very round and one. Fun.

Tasted at the 12th GRF, in the masterclass at Colours of Rum: Great nose and almost a bit unusual since very herbal, but much more impressive on the palate. Alcohol top integrated, the classic Hampden profile comes along with a few additional flavors of herbs and a slight saltiness. Alcohol super integrated, very oily and it lingers in the mouth forever. This is a top shelf Hampden!

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can smell wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

An extremely well-balanced 1992 Hampden that surprises with tea, mint, and other herbs as the finishing touch. The classic markers—tropical fruits, esters, and baked goods—are pleasantly present; alcohol perfectly integrated. On the palate, there’s also a slight salty note.

Very solid 92 HD, olives & tropical fruits. Less dry/herbal than other 92 releases but more fruity.

Initial nosing mostly reveals polish and wood notes. This evolves into pastries like lemon pie and banana bread. The pastry and overripe banana notes are also present on the taste alongside dark chocolate and some baking spices. Overall a very nice release.
