05-12-2024 Colours of Rum Tasting Best rum of the evening. Really good Caroni with age as I like it. Tar and rubber in nose and on plate. Not to much. Just sweet spot
Review by Oliver
A pleasant, rather restrained nose. But on the palate comes a wonderful roastiness, chocolate and umami. Very horny 1998 Caroni!

I said it was rounder than expected, but after a few sips it’s clear that this is proper Caroni. Intense fun.

Another rekindling at the GRF and I really like this profile. ----- Back on track with a nicely balanced release with all the right flavours. Love the chocolate and raisin that blends well with a light coffee note in between the tar and rubber.

One of the greater bottles from this vintage. Everything one could expect, dirty and with just the right amount of rubber and tar :) It feels sweet and not overly complex in the beginning but opens up really nice. So take your time and enjoy.

The lighter side of Caroni, still really good stuff

Despite many similar releases, the continental 1998 profile always produces delicious drops. Nice fruity nose with raisins, a few red fruits, caramel, cola, coffee and toffee. The palate is then beautifully dark with coffee, dark chocolate, dirt and 98 sweetness. Great mouthfeel.

For once a really nice Caroni outside the Velier range. More on the dark, dirty side with a pleasant sweetness. I really like it. It's also reasonably affordable.

Review by DomM
Very nice and fruity on the nose. Creamy mouthfeel with lots of cacao and vanilla notes.

A good Caroni with dark, slightly dirty aromas
