Pretty creepy. Very sharp alcohol and the burnt wood note in the finish totally overpowers the otherwise quite light rum. Not recommended.

Shop visit Rum Paradise Hamburg April 2025. This is the last one for today. It's better than expected. Vanilla and young wood on the nose. On the palate, we get vanilla, wood, and a bit of red wine. Solid finish.

7,1:On the nose, the first impression reveals enticing aromas of toasted oak, caramel and dark chocolate, followed by vanilla and red, port wine expression, leather might be present, caramel and roasted nuts, perhaps a hint of juniper, as the fruits are yellow and dried, the molasses herbaceous. On aeration, the molasses is flowery, variety of fruits arise like pineapple, cherry, raisins, banana, perhaps citrus, as some might be candied. 6,8:On the palate, the attack is bold and refined, offering notes of molasses, spices, dried fruits, and a subtle hint of smoke, as the wood is charred, buttery with caramel and cocoa, slightly metallic and peppery, various fruits are added like red, yellow, some pineapple and perhaps a hint of a toasted coconut, oxidation brings out sugarcane. 6,5:The finish is quite short, dry, velvety, sugarcane is grassy, the wood is toasted, peppery, there are roasted nuts, caramel, industrial tones with petrol and dried fruits.

A visit to the Takamaka distillery is worthwhile! During the pandemic, the distillery has built up a second mainstay alongside its high-quality pot still made from fresh sugar cane juice from the Seychelles in very small quantities with a triple column still that works with molasses from abroad (Mauritius). This enables continuous production in large quantities, serving the cocktail and beginner segment. Extra Noir, however, comes from the middle segment, as it also has pot still components and a somewhat more elaborate storage process than that of the lower segment. However, I find the burnt aromas in the mouth and finish too dominant and sharp. Unfortunately, apart from the Zepis Kreol, there were no other rums from this segment available for tasting.

Unfortunately very short-lived and not very exciting. Just woody without much character. Also diluted both in the nose and the taste. It disappears very quickly. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

I had a couple of ,,shots,, on my friends wedding and I was surprised how good it is. I only had a chance to taste the one dedicated to drinks but this is whole another level. I cannot remember the exact taste or smell but I liked it a lot it was very well balanced with sweetness. I need to get a bottle to revisit. Retaste: I kind of agree with what I said it is surprisingly good, rather sweet but not over the top rather nicely balanced.

Nice and easy going rum. Lots of red wine and fruits in the nose. More light and agricole in the taste. Wood spices. Would like to try this on a higher ABV. Good entry level for a "semi" new rum.

15/05/2026: Advent calender: Le Monde des Rhums 2025. Not very exciting to be honest. I like the nose slightly better than the palate, but there is not a lot happening. Short finish and not complex. I would't spend money on a bottle.

Ein ausdrucksstarker, rauchig-holziger Charred Cask Rum, der weniger auf fruchtige Eleganz setzt als vielmehr auf tiefe Röstaromen, Würze und Struktur. Der Blend aus Pot- und Column-Still-Rum kombiniert mit französischer Eiche und Ex-Bourbon-Holz ergibt ein kraftvolles Profil - perfekt für Liebhaber solcher Stilistik. Der Rum ist nicht süß und eignet sich ideal zum puren Genuss oder als Basis für einen robusten Cocktail wie einen Whisky-ähnlichen Highball.

Ein Blend mit 43% von den Seychellen, bestehend aus Rum welcher mit Holzchips aus französischer Eiche und einmal mit Eichenholz von Bourbonfässern aromatisiert wurde. Letzendlich in Rumfässern zusammengeführt. Der Holzgeschmack überwiegt sehr stark, so dass andere Aromen nur sehr schwach auszumachen sind. Wer es sehr holzlastig mag ist hier gut aufgehoben. Fazit: Zu einseitiger Holzgeschmack, hier fehlt noch Gleichgewicht.

Very heavily toasted wood and unfortunately hardly any fruity aromas, let alone floral aromas. Still, not a bad rum. Works well in drinks.
