Was eine tolle fruchtbombe. Bin vollkommen überrascht.

In the run-up I heard, you can not compare the Cudjoe with his sister Nanny. Is also a bit absurd with siblings of different sex 😉 But I notice already on the nose at least a common DNA. Overripe, tropical fruit. Especially the nanny can clearly come up with that. Its brother is a bit more restrained. On the palate, the Cudjoe lets its big brother hang out, in other words: somehow more grown-up, more mature, drier. This must be due to the storage and the somewhat higher ABV. Conclusion: As a straight man, I can't get out of my skin: I like the young, impetuous Nanny a bit better than its somewhat more detached brother Cudjoe. But even he will find his lovers.

The brother of the popular Nanny, quasi the funny great uncle - per se already good conditions, in addition Rum from Ghana again something new, at least individually, at least for me. The proximity to Nanny is also quite present and recognizable. Powerful, even biting esters and an almost brute force on the tongue. At the same time, I also find it difficult to classify it somehow. The first associations go to Jamaica, but somehow it also reminds me of Obstler in the nose, the rum seems very young. On the palate then also notes that make me think distantly of Fiji, at the same time it now seems older than the Nanny. This is exciting, it tastes good. However, the rum also wants to be tamed, an easy sipper is not,, fun it is anyway!

Restrained smell of sweet and sour fruits. On the palate, thanks to the 67.4% very strong, spicy and mineral with a fruity sweetness, sweeter than the Nanny. The nose is restrained, but I like it better than the Nanny because of the much weaker olive note. Flavor-wise, the Nanny is definitely more exciting and complex, but I personally like the profile from the Cudjoe a bit better undiluted. With a few drops, the Nanny but clearly catches up.With a few drops of water, the nose comes out a little more and gains fresh notes. In the taste now dominate fruity notes.

This is clearly an interesting combination. Young Ghanaian with HD finish. And then with neat % and single cask.Nose: intense and fermented-fruity. Through it also with a slight vinegar impact. First thing I find is overripe honeydew melon with green apple and grape. Overall sweetish with honey and syrup but also vegatible with pickled olives and dull geranium. Finely smoky and slightly chocolaty at the back. Different, but good because of it.Palate: oha, the 67% demands properly here. And the HD barrel makes itself felt right away with esters. Dry and astringent at the start, then bitter and salty before green apple, pineapple and finally proper plum come through. Also seems woody-spicy, licorice with slightly charred plastic. Not easy, but interesting

Spirit of Rum Rumclub. Ganz solider Rum mit 67,4 Prozent Alkohol. Rum ist fruchtig..im Nachgang ein bisschen Schärfe zu erkennen. Trotzdem gefällt mir dieser Rum ganz gut und man macht nichts falsch..

Remains unfortunately clearly behind the first edition which was a Ghana-HD Blend. Here it is just a finish. I think with a little more age this rum from Ghana could present its fruit notes at less alcohol even better.

I liked Nanny very much. Unfortunately, I currently have nothing more of it as a comparison. This rum is again very special with yeast, esters, fruit and a light Hampden finish. Very successful!

Mega abgespaceder tropical fruit cocktail! Personally, a little too spicy and too Obstler lastig but the basic flavor of lychee, pineapple etc. is the hammer!

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is very fruity with esters. There are overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, melon, that quickly melt in delicious marmelade with a pinch of a lemon and some vegetal notes. Aeration brings out roasted wood and candied fruits, honeyed and waxy with some vanilla and mint. After some rest, we could think, that we scent fruit schnapps, later maybe even whisky. Nicely balanced. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is very fruity with esters, a bit spicy and salty. We get some tasty plum, pineapple, cherries, green apple. It quickly becomes dry, a bit mineral, woody, the wood is roasted and toasted. The molasses gives us inevitable bitter touch with vegetal notes like olive. After a while, our tasting buds are very pleased with chocolate notes, roasted nuts... When well rested, it is going towards floral notes, some hay and we could taste a cherry, citrus and some anise. 8:The finish is fruity with cherry, raspberries, banana, woody, dry, spicy and a bit mineral. The molasses brings us some vegetal notes, some bitterness....

Alkohol gut eingebunden.
Review by Boletus

Tasted in direct comparison with Nanny of the Maroons. Nanny clearly wins by more fruitiness and a better integrated alcohol. In addition, the PLV of the Cudjoe is a disaster...

The Hampden finish takes away in my eyes something the essence of Ghana, priced in my eyes unfortunately exaggerated with 119€ for 0.5 liters.

Nice rum but the HD finish is quite overwhelming and I find it difficult to taste much else.
