And to finish, once Belize. You get what you expect. Very roasted, besides coconut we have (dark) chocolate and vanilla on the nose. On the palate then a mix of chocolate, barrel, spice and roastiness.

The rum needs a lot of time in the glass to fully develop its aroma. The nose is quite complex. Fruits, vanilla, chocolate, and a hint of mint. The taste is slightly sweet with a certain alcoholic sharpness, followed by espresso, allspice, and light barrel influence. The finish is medium, some sharpness, barrel, and licorice.

The smell was really impressive. It even had something of carrot and parsley root. Something I have never smelled in any rum before. The taste was then nicely intense with pastry and coconut.

Initially quite restrained, after some time in the glass it opens up.. Coconut, vanilla, molasses; but also a vegetal slightly musty/rooty note appears. On the palate first a heavy sweetness, which quickly changes to spicy roasted and sharp! A fine note of sour cherry mixes in! The alcohol is not so well integrated, which makes the rum a bit sharp at the end. The finish is relatively short, notes of mocha, herbs and real licorice. A good Belize.

The nose reminds me of Barbados/Foursquare with a good portion of coconut, vanilla, baking spices. But there is still something vegetal going on. A very balanced nose without offending, which depending on what you’re looking for can be a small criticism. Taste-wise a bit one-dimensional, alcohol not so well integrated. Compared to the RC Ed., I miss the fruity aromas.

Belize is kind of my thing, I have to say. I like this heavy intense nose with baking spices, roasted nuts, chocolate and fruity plum. On the palate this spicy sweetness, roasted, strong, hardly any fruit left. At the end come herbs, licorice and barrel. Very tasty, but doesn't quite reach the FRC.

Great nose, a lot happening. On the palate, for my taste, something fruity is missing. The finish is tasty again with first espresso and licorice, later increasingly herbs.

#notapro The alcohol content of this rum is simply too high for me to get the full aroma. I would have liked to not only smell the vanilla, coconut, espresso notes and chocolate but also taste them. For others, this rum is surely better than my rating.
