Brown sugar, vanilla and a soft woody backbone lead here, with the black-cane juice giving a distinctive sweet, jammy edge you don't often get in an aged agricole. Cognac-cask time adds cherry and cocoa. Most tasters find it rounded and easy, "facile à boire," and gently sweet. The recurring gripe: it's a touch soft, and some wish it hit harder than its 45% suggests.

EDIT: Nice masterclass at the Trou à Rhum in Arras - April 2024. Nose: woody through and through, a little cherry, the ex cognac/raison side comes through. Palate: woody, but above all red fruit, more cherry syrup, Finish: good intensity, good balance Comments: I really missed it at the live whisky, what a mistake! I clearly could have bought this bottle.

Bologne Old Black Cane is like the name says made from black cane. It’s a blend aged between 3 and 6 years in French oak barrels that have previously contained cognac before bottled. Overall a good Agricole as all rum from the Bologne distillery is.

La Route des Rhums Advent Calendar 2022 No. 8. great piece, I hadn't expected it to be like this. Nice woody nose, also chocolate and vanilla. The palate also has a nice armchair in the form of cocoa, dark chocolate and vanilla. Strong.

To be re-tested under better conditions, but I really enjoyed it. I found a cane taste rare in aged rums, which blended well with the woody structure in which vanilla and fruit mingle. Very nice.

A very pleasant tasting: this Bologne reveals a particularly indulgent profile. The notes of vanilla and brown sugar evoke a delicious pastry, while the wood remains present from start to finish. In short, a great success!

I really liked the Bologne blanc black canne and was curious to see how the aged one was. You find the taste of that cane, it's rather indulgent with a discreet woodiness. It lacks a bit of exuberance and length, but it remains a good product.

Bologne experiments with aging its famous white made only from black cane, and the result is a nice surprise. The nose shows tropical fruits (pineapple) and citrus (lime, orange), bordered by spices (vanilla, chili) and notes of candied sugarcane and a honeyed sweetness. The vegetal influence is limited here, letting the woodiness blend perfectly into the nose. It's very pleasant and balanced. The attack on the palate relies on the same balance, between the roundness of the profile and the youth's vigor. The fruits are less present, but the sweeter notes of pastries, honey and juicy sugarcane bring exquisite roundness on the palate. In addition to a syrupy and indulgent texture, chocolate, almonds and vanilla add flavors that pair well with the wood and some floral notes present. The alcohol is very well integrated, you feel some vigor despite the reduction. The finish is well made, rather dry compared to the rest of the profile. Spices and vegetal notes are a bit more present, but the fruits haven't said their last word in this lovely final bouquet, where crème brûlée and burnt sugar soften an intense finish. A superb profile, at a good quality/price ratio.

Blind tasting of the advent calendar #1. On the nose and taste, I didn't think of this at all. I definitely found the notes of vanilla, fruits, exotic, a little hint of orange and cocoa, a little herbal side. It's well made, and the alcohol is very well integrated.

Very round and balanced. Light and pleasantly chocolaty. The chocolate is stronger than the green, herbal note of an Agricole, which remains here in the background without disturbing. Could stand a little more percent.

Initial smell of apricot and caramel. Cognac and cherry in the mouth but the latter is light. I get a hint of cocoa, raspberry. Has a stronger vibe than you'd expect from the 45%. Pours deep golden. Slight note of burning cigarette at the end. Sample shared by Yaro.

One of the best maturations I've experienced so far. Even the Blanc is really well made: rather elegant and with very clearly worked out tropical fruit notes. All the more amazing how well these aromas are preserved during maturation. At the same time, much more depth, spice, and complexity develop, without the original distillate disappearing under the cask. But at the same time, the recognizable notes are slightly changed. Especially with a rather fine distillate, I find that unusual.

Rum aged between 3 and 6 years in oak barrels. Made exclusively from black canes and distilled by column. Rum whose length on the palate remains short but whose smells and tastes are of brown sugar, vanilla, and cocoa. The whole is well-rounded and pleasant!
