Hampden Flensburg Rum Company Jamaica Rum HD C<>H 2007

Sip this slowly and neat — at cask strength it fills the mouth but the alcohol sits well-integrated. Classic Hampden ester and glue meet overripe pineapple and banana, then a PX sherry finish folds in raisins and a little smoke. Most tasters enjoy the funk-meets-sherry combo; a vocal camp of purists feels the sherry blankets the raw C<>H marque they came for.

So here is number 3 of the C<>H from Flensburg. That he does not rank kommt to number 1, was actually clear, but also to number 2 (GRF 21), which represents the other of the barrel, the distance is large. I'm generally not a fan of finishes and just sherry usually scares me off and so I find myself confirmed again here. Despite a dark note that is unusual for Hampden Wher, the nose seems rather dull and not very brute, as one is used to with C<>H. The palate confirms the marque with some positive associations, but delivers little in sum. Comparatively thin, well-behaved or just dull again and thus below the quality of its brethren. Here, the finish adds nothing, but suppresses corners and edges, which one looks for in such bottling as a nerd ...

Unterm Strich, PX Finish hin oder her, richtig guter Stoff.

Not recognizable as Hamoden. I would bet this is lightly spiced rum

Another combination that can go well: high ester and sherry. Let's see how this one is. ABV is right, the dark color is probably also due to the PX.Nose: intense esters with sweet and sour pineapple are immediately present. Behind that, however, I immediately detect the PX finish with its sweet-woody-smoky aromas. A slight lemon freshness and a vinegar note are just as there as marzipan and resinous wood. Pleasant and balanced.Palate: there must have been some PX in the barrel. Because you almost have it here before the esters. Sweetish sherry, almost brandy. Sweetish-sour, woody-smoky. Something like rum-raisin with pineapple. Alcohol is quite well integrated.Sherry and pineapple with a slight smoky note in the finish.Good drinkable, but for me too much sherry on the palate.

A tasty Rum, with well integrated Alcohol and lots of Jamaican Funk. I get fruits, esters, all the stuff of high Ester and some burned wood/meat (only slightly, though). I am, however, conflicted about the finish. The Sherry is noteable but not dominating, and adds a bit to the sweetness. The Hampdens on the other hand are usually already quite flavorful, and do not need fancy finishes. I think it is interesting and well tasting, but some parts (not all, mostly the "heavier" ones) of the Sherry are not so well balanced against the C<>H. There is really no need to add additional flavours for this funk.

After I have expressed myself on Facebook quite critical of the bottling I would like to make me but also times a real picture. Thanks for the sample at this point.Tasted against RX10460 (FRC GRF Release Hampden 2007 C<>H).In the nose you notice the sherry finish already because the typical 2007 C<>H essence does not come out wilrklich. In the mouth, it feels like the sherry finish has wrapped itself around the typical aroma like a cloak. Certainly it makes the rum more approachable for some. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the finish and it's also sadly 6% short of bottling from GRF. Still, a very exciting attempt by Oldman Spirits with the finish. Priced he was in my eyes of rum

Nice try.... for me not quite round the whole ...yet not what I would title "bad " ...the HD gene is almost lost for me, unfortunately ! PLV does not fit for me personally ... in addition, I would be interested by which influences are the significantly lower ABV to explain (GRF filling 1/2 of the barrel) the time wass yes rather not ✌️✌️
