Mango, tropical fruit and a soft vanilla-caramel lead the nose here, and most tasters find that part genuinely lovely — datte, figs, integrated oak. Overall an complex, aromatic and powerful Agricole vintage Brut de Fut from Rhum J.M that I tasted at the Sweden Rumfest 2023 in Stockholm. I’ve before tasted most of their regular range and liked them all. This vintage doesn’t disappoint either. Rhum J.M is produced up in the northeast of Martinique at the Bellevue Distillery (btw a very common distillery name). It’s an AOC Agricole distilled December 2012 produced from their own sugar cane that’s aged in Limousin oak barrels before bottled in May 2022. So it’s 9yo.

A good Agricole rum that is really very impressive on the nose. Very intense smell of tropical fruits and spices. Unfortunately, it falls significantly in taste and finish. Here it is unfortunately too flat or too watery.

👃 The nose offers us woodiness, tropical fruits, caramel and a bit of vanilla. 👄 On the palate we also have spices and dried fruits with a bit of roundness. The finish is long. Never a bad surprise with Rhum J.M.

A lovely nose of fresh dates, figs, well-integrated oak and a hint of pastry. The palate is disappointing, too thin, diluted with apricot. The finish is medium-bodied, with a herbaceous edge. The empty glass is more on the old varnished wood and pastry side.

Bottle just opened. Nose: quite expressive, citrus, exotic fruits, nice freshness, slight caramel and vanilla. Mouth: soft, fruity, light pepper, red jammy fruits. Finish: medium long, smooth, triptych pepper-vanilla-wood. Empty glass: smoky notes, old wood, caramel praline. A very good cask strength typical of Macouba. The strength is a bit low (as often with JM), which makes it more accessible for novices and still offers a very nice tasting.

A good to very good rum... A nose combining herbs, licorice and a hint of wood drowned in fruit... A palate that lives up to the nose... With a touch of freshness. A medium to long finish, while retaining the aromatic aspects discovered on the nose...

One of my favorites, bought at the distillery on the last day of our stay there. After tasting the whole range at the shop, this 2012 came out the winner with the regret of having bought only one bottle... obviously. Maybe the only regret is its somewhat diluted character that others have already noted. But that maybe contributes to its softness.

Subtle and rather elegant rum. A real tutti fruity backbone which is a bit unusual but I also really like. Nose is mango and tropical fruits, the mouth evolves over time with some sawdust and fennel before notes of bubblegum and Asian spices. Finish is decently long and rather soft, fading into the background rather nicely. Solid rum
