In any case, here we have a decent Kill Devil. It's pleasantly woody on the nose, herbs are also recognizable. On the palate there is also a lot of wood, again some herbs and a slight spiciness.

7,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is quite restrained, still, we could find flowery and herbaceous molasses and tobacco, wood with tannins, cocoa and anise, coppery patina and perhaps iodine. On aeration, the picture gets better with esters, tropical and citrus fruits, stays alcoholic, but molasses brings licorice, as the wood nuts, confectionery, with a pinch of salt. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is intense at first, like fruit schnapps, quite woody with nuts, leather, malty, meaty tones and confectionery, spicy with anise, vanilla, a bit salty.The molasses is grassy, herbaceous, flowery, vegetal.From fruity side, we are attacked with esters and tropical fruits, overripe, citrus fruits and green apple.After some rest, metallic patina arises. 7,9:The finish is medium long, dry and tannic, slightly smoky, spicy and salty, there are still esters, tropical and citrus fruits, the molasses is grassy and of course, inevitable pencil shavings..😉 Edit:12.10.25

The nose is very closed. The alcohol is a little too present on the nose for me, accompanied by herbs, a little wood, malt and licorice. The palate lacks intensity. I perceive some herbs, malt, wood and spices here.

I love this molasses rum. The nose is dominated by the intoxicating smell of jackfruit, the jackfruit endemic to Mayotte. It gives off a very pleasant pestilential smell. The fruit fell from the tree a few days ago. I could stay on the nose for hours with my eyes closed, it reminds me of my Mayotte hikes in the south of the island, from beach to beach. There is also soursop, starfruit, jamblon (not ham, jamblon is a kind of local cherry), jujube,... Then in the background some local flowers, like in the botanical garden of Saint Denis de la Réunion. 88/100 On the palate, the alcohol is lively. But then come the same markers as on the nose, a melting pot of well-ripe to rotten exotic fruits. A slightly wet wood accompanies these fruits. Pleasant astringency. A bit of vanilla in caramel brings relative sweetness. 84/100 After more than a year and a half of opening, the scents are still as present and the alcohol bite tends to dissipate a bit (one of its flaws). The empty glass the next morning is still very expressive. PS: Certainly a divisive rum, but it will give a great feeling of satisfaction to those who can tame it.
