Opinions land all over the place here. Plenty enjoy the pastry-sweet nose of vanilla, coconut, cocoa and almonds, and call it an easy daily sipper. But a fair few, especially longtime Guyana drinkers, find the palate thin and one-dimensional, with the 51% sticking out and the finish fading fast. The cognac cask makes it fruitier and less woody-raisin than a typical Demerara.

When looking at the price tag you get a lot for your money when you buy this bottle. It's a bit different from the regulate Guyana in a good way. I liked it enough to order a few bottles. The nose is lightly fruity with vanilla, nuts and cocoa as well as light flavors of pastry. The palate is sweet and fruity with molasses, floral, nuts and vanilla as well as tobacco notes. The finish is medium long and warm with spices, licorice and chocolate. Leave the empty glass for a few hours and whif it again 😊

Had somehow hoped this rum would be a worthy Guyana counterpart to the outstanding OTL from Trinidad (RX9683), but was quite disappointed. 🙄 Find this rum just thin and flat and one-dimensional. Too bad. 🥴After all, the PLV is (was) still quite ok and the rum will find its lovers (he already has).

I don't have much experience with Guyana rums, but this one is different from what I've already tasted. It is less exuberant. The nose is quite pleasant carried by chocolate/wood/dried grape. The palate disturbs me a bit, it starts with warm chocolate woody notes then quickly passes through a phase of bitterness to return to dried fruits. I imagine a quite biting juice of origin that the cognac cask must round off well.

Very spicy on the nose combined with some citrus fruits and a sweet coconut note. On the palate, a nice broad all-around mix of spicy, fruity, and floral notes, with tobacco standing out. The finish leans towards licorice. Doesn't really convince me at this price. Especially compared to Bellamy’s Guyana Diamond 2012 and the consistently good Rum Nation Solera No. 14 bottlings, this Plantation is faltering.

Tasted at the bar "The Rabbit Hole" in Hamburg. Great bar, top-notch cocktails and extensive spirits menu. The rum falls far short of my expectations. The moderately integrated alcohol stands out with a decent sharpness. Otherwise not much, very shallow Guyana aromas.

A soft, round and pastry nose. The mouth mixes a very floral aspect with the sweetness of caramel. It's good but lacks character.

Price to quality is decent with this bottle. I find this rum to have a nose of almonds and vanilla, and in the notes I found dried fruits, berries and cocoa. I expected a bit more flavor and deeper taste

The nose is lightly fruity with vanilla, tonka/cinnamon beans and cocoa as well as light fruit paste flavors. It's rather heavy but intriguing. The palate is sweet and fruity with molasses, copper, nuts and vanilla as well as hints of tobacco. The finish is moderately long and warm with spice, licorice and chocolate. This blend of different DDL distillation styles is interesting, and when you look at the price, you get your money's worth...

Tasted in a V&B. It's a good introduction to the Guyana terroir, with a fairly consensual nose of vanilla, coconut, and just the right amount of wood and spices. The palate is quite pastry-like, a bit like fruit cake, with a hint of vanilla. The finish is average. An honest rum but not a favorite.

Small quiet tasting at my buddy Guigui's. On the nose it's pleasant with lots of coconut, vanilla, and chocolate, the palate follows with some spices added. The finish also, moderately long. Very nice.

Good value for money. Give it a few minutes of airing, it gains roundness, especially on the coconut and vanilla. A little fatty and pastry touch that slides well on the palate. The spices are there from start to finish. Nice tasting, worth a try.

Superb guyana rom from plantation! Chocolate on the noise immediately, but in the glass it develop to More funky fruity smell. The taste have the same development. Almost 9/10 for my taste.

24-07-2025 - Rate 7.3 31-07-2025 - Rate 6.9 Was more found of this one last week. Drank a lot of different Plantation rums when I began drinking rum. And liked most of it. But now many years later, I’m more into different kind of rums, than the once Plantation has on the marked. Of course there bring good bottles to the market, but the really good once are further and further apart. I actually enjoys the nose on this one. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, wood and cumin. But the palate is dominated by cumin and wet wood. Don’t like that to much. Short finish also dominated by cumin.

Guyana and limited are keywords for a rum enthusiast, I had to taste it. The nose is spice driven, mostly vanilla, cocoa and coconut. The palate feels sweet enough, the fruity side is more toned. The finish with licorice, chocolate gives some nice moments. Overall very good rum, but far from excellent.

Fruity in a way that one does not normally associate mentally with DDL products. Unctuous nose with fruit, nuts, and olive oil notes, plus the suggestion of a hay field. Fairly delicate body like a cognac or just a sweet white wine, with lots of fruit notes - watermelon, strawberry, apple. Honey sweetness emerges giving the sense of mead. After 30 minutes or so breathing time, some richer molasses notes emerge on the nose and palate, like the pot still component is fighting its way out. White wine/honey finish, perhaps just mead-like.

Pretty good—great for the price I got it at ($45). A strange fermented grape note on the nose that’s a bit medicinal/metallic in a not totally unpleasant way. Not totally pleasant, either, though. Palate has a rich, medium oily mouthfeel that tastes about exactly how you’d expect for some 15 year PM/column still Guyana finished in cognac. Rich raisin and molasses from the base distillate and fresher, funkier, winier fruit from the cognac.

The nose is fantastic. On one hand it’s very sweet, pastry-like with fruit and almonds. On another pass it’s much darker with raisins, banana, oily with a hint of gasoline. I keep going back to it. Nice sweet entry, vanilla, dark fruit and robustly round tasting. Moments of dried and toasted nuts, and towards the back a bit of tobacco . Hint of smoke? It all dissipates quickly but nicely into a not too long finish starting with chocolate and spice and ending with a more vegetal bias, the chocolate reforming as more bitter cocoa. Ashy eucalyptus.

Very pleasant. Subtle and gentle taste, maybe due to very low ester content (37 g/hl AA). Surpringly little wood for a 15 yr aged rum.
