The nose leans slightly sweet — caramel, chocolate, vanilla — with oak coming through. At 60.2% it's a proper cask-strength sipper: spice and wood up front, a good dose of alcohol behind it. One taster called it the least polished Foursquare he's had; another simply had a lot of fun with it.

Just based on price/performance there is a clear thumbs up from me. I wouldn’t have expected much different from a Foursquare release. Some might rate it lower, but for me price always plays a role in my ratings.

Un Foursquare assez platonique, avec un nez relativement terne et fade sur des notes principalement épicées. L’ensemble manque cruellement de vie. Limite ça irrite un peu les narines avec l’alcool. Par la suite se dégage un rhum peu plus relevé en bouche, mais avec clairement une impression de rhum effacé et superficiel qui ternit son image. Il y a un côté herbeux très étrange, quelques fruits, des épices par-ci par-là, un peu de bois et de caramel mielleux et le tour est joué. Ça ne casse pas trois pattes à un canard. La finale est courte, rapidement effacée et sans grand intérêt honnêtement. L’attaque en bouche et les notes herbeuses atypiques sauvent la mise, mais il s’agit d’un Foursquare continental des plus étranges.

I have to say, this rum is really something special. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here. It has a great, slightly sweet nose consisting of caramel, chocolate and vanilla. The wood also comes through. On the palate also slightly sweet, but really within limits. Great rum.

Honestly at this price you can't be disappointed, but it's true that this is the least flavorful and most unbalanced Foursquare I've tasted. You get caramel/spices/vanilla, but with a good dose of alcohol, and the fruits/tobacco/chocolate are a bit shy.

Great value for money, very edgy sipper, but personally gives me a lot of fun and comes across as a rather wild Foursquare. The sister bottling is a bit sweeter, but this one also has a higher ABV.
