Albert Michler Distillery Oliver & Oliver Austrian Empire Navy Rum Solera 18
The "18" on the label is Solera math, not a full 18-year age — this is a sweet, easy Dominican column-still rum built for comfortable sipping. Expect vanilla, caramel, plum and raisin with a light smoke and oak edge a few tasters catch on day two. Balanced for its sweetness, but some find it dull and taste the additives more than the rum.

Most helpful positive review
This one is better than its younger brother and has more smoothness to it. I also think it's far better balanced, lightly smoked and has more complexity to it. The nose is smoked and oaky with coffee and spice to it. There is also sweetness from honey and caramel. The palate is slightly less sweet compared to the younger version, but still on the sweet end. Nice smoke and oakiness with a licorice and marzipan at the end. The finish is medium long with spices, oak and smoke. If you leave the glass for the next day the smoke and oak is easily identified.

Revisiting: Nose is sweet, mostly vanilla with hints of plumes and raisins and you get the same in the taste where plumes are dominant. The rum is fairly sweet but not in a bad way actually this is balanced really well. Finish is medium long. As a matter of fact I have not tasted bad rum from AM to this day. Of course, they add sugar to most, if not all rums, but honestly, and eventhough some of their bottles are way too sweet, this one along with reserva 1863 are well balanced and I truly like it a lot. Initial score 74 downgraded to 71. Still a nice rum. Downgrading again, it is very dull in taste in comparison with other in the same brand.
