Clément Private Cask (RA) 2015

Roasted, woody and oak-forward, with orange, vanilla and cinnamon underneath and a grassy agricole edge. The recurring gripe across tasters is the alcohol — at 55.5% cask strength, several found the heat poorly integrated and the finish dry, bitter and a bit abrupt. One member called the whole thing "nett und unspektakulär" — pleasant but not memorable, especially for a limited private cask.

Woody, roasted agricole with pushy alcohol Well-made Martinique agricole with orange, spice and roasted oak, but most tasters wanted more punch and better-integrated alcohol. Fine, not the special release its label suggests.

A Clément selected by Rum Artesanal. The nose is quite soft, well chiselled and carried by notes of sugar cane, candied fruit, then coconut, dried apricot and orange burst into the nostrils. Oak, coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon bring a good dose of greediness, while aromatic herbs, flowers and tobacco bring a touch of freshness. The attack on the palate is rougher and more intense, with woody and roasted notes, before bitterness sets in through a vegetal and herbaceous influence that spoils the pleasure. Tobacco, pepper and dried fruit leave a warm frame on the palate. Orange lingers in the background. The finish, dry, bitter, woody and agricultural, is rather abrupt and characterful. The last memory on the palate is not the most pleasant. We were entitled to expect more from this special cuvée, which is delicate on the surface but rougher once opened.

Sehr schöner Clement mit ausgewogenen Agricole-Noten Braucht Luft, wird nach Oxidation in Glas und nach ein paar Monate offen in der Flasche wunderbar rund

Taste of 3 random rhum agricoles, let´s see. Rum Artesanal Clement 2015, 55,5% Tamosi Hiali Peré Labat 2013, 57,5% J.M Millisime 2004, 42,9% C: Dark Gold N: Bourbon, lots, and spices. I also get red apples and grapes, but like I said before, all very bourbony. After a while both the red apples and the bourbon are even more present. I´m not liking this nose so much. M: Light, almost feel reduced. Sweet and with spices I’m not familiar with. Is that the “h” in rum? Funny you are! I also get red apples, but these get a bit sour towards the end. F: Not too long. It fades rather quickly. B: Not for me.

Tasted at the 11th GRF and unfortunately not a bottling I need. Little character, despite the comparatively high alcohol content for an Agricole

I really like Clement rums and just had to try this one at the German Rum Fest. I was a bit disappointed because I had expected far more from this release. The nose is kind of light and took time to develop and release flavours and once there not really strong. The palate is also light in the flavours but the typical clement notes are there with orange and spices. Would have loved more punch though. The finish is short to medium and it left my palate pretty fast and insignificant.

A thoroughly successful Clement, but the very present alcoholic note bothers me! The PLV is not balanced for me; there are better Clements a little cheaper! Today for the 2nd time in the glass... it remains the same, the alcohol is simply not well integrated, too bad!

Is quite okay but me personally too bitter and too strong after tobacco and herbs. Does not really convince me, there's definitely much better Clement single casks...

While I appreciate the comparably higher ABV, it’s just a little to present. Definitely more on the dark side of notes. Not bad but not overly complex tbh.

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 330 Rums

Le Simon is Martinique's ghostwriter. It is the island's most technologically advanced distillery, yet it sells no rum under its own name, runs no public tours, and ages nothing on site. Instead it distils two of the most beloved names in Martinique agricole, HSE and, until recently, Clement, on stills moved here from their original homes. What you taste as HSE is, in fact, Le Simon.
