What a beautiful rum! The nose is beautifully fruity, with citrus fruits in particular. Spice and wood are accompanied by gentle alcohol notes. Very mild and fruity in the mouth with good spiciness. I think they've managed that very well. Super balanced and really an absolute highlight for beginners. You can't complain about the price-performance ratio either.

This is a very well balanced rum and I'd say it could be a good beginners rum. Would have loved a higher ABV which I talked about with the representative. Fruity and fresh with spice and wood and a light touch of chocolate. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

Pleasant nose, with fruity notes of sherry and cask spice. Balanced on the palate with a medium finish. Good balance of sweetness, sherry, fruit, and spice. Pleasant finish dominated by the spice.

The big brother of the Wagemut PX-Cask. Wonderful fruit notes together with spices on the nose. In the mouth incredibly soft and velvety with spice, sherry and vanilla notes. Very balanced, mild and round on the finish.

A slightly sweet, beginner-friendly rum. There are notes of sherry, vanilla, and wood on the nose and palate, which are balanced in relation to each other. The woody cask influence is more pronounced on the finish. Overall, a recommendation for the first steps into the world of fine spirits.

This is my first rum from Wagemut. It is quite expensive for what it offers, but drinks very soft and uncomplicated. On the nose, I mainly have vanilla, dried fruits, some baking spices, and some wood. On the palate then very sweet, probably because it is sweetened. The texture is therefore very creamy and again I have vanilla, some wood, and added milk chocolate, dried plum, and coconut. The finish is short and lives on vanilla, caramel, wood, and raisin. The 43% are hardly noticeable and therefore this rum is very easy to drink. Many thanks to @DanielS for the sample.

8,2:On the nose, dried fruits with prunes, overripe tropical fruits with pineapple, citrus fruits, roasted wood notes with chocolate, caramel, spicy with baking spices, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, various new fruits arise like raisins, dried apricots, coconut, banana, grapes, the molasses is slightly flowery, the wood smoky with leather. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is sweet with roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, caramel, roasted nuts, leather, chocolate, smoky, spicy with baking spices, vanilla, fruity with dried apricots, raisins, hints of prunes, tropical fruits like banana are overripe, the coconut toasted, some fruits become candied, when the rum is well oxidized, the molasses is thick. 8:The finish is medium long, dry and tannic, the molasses flowery, earthy with tobacco, the fruits dried, tropical, citrus and red, as the wood is roasted, smoky, spicy. Now we're getting into decent territory. This one has a nice fruity nose with a hint of vanilla and chocolate. On the palate, it comes across woody, you can taste the cask, as well as a hint of chocolate and some spice.

Plum, grape and wood on the nose and of course the house sherry note. The latter is more pronounced here than in the standard, comes older and darker. It also has a tiny bit of minty Guyanese traits. As with the standard, what bothers me on the palate is that it comes across relatively "thin" for a Foursquare. Cool, not as full-bodied as the nose suggests and with a distinct sherry character. Unfortunately, this runs through the entire range and causes deductions from me. Nonetheless - a must for sherry fans, absolutely pleasant and well made. I think it would probably be massively cooler at cask strength and with less sherry ;)

A very tasty rum from Wagemut. You don't feel the 43% at all. It's dry, slightly spicy, and not as sweet as its little brother, the PX. Whether it's worth 70 euros depends a lot on each person individually.

Not too complex, easy sipper. Good for starting a tasting before moving on to really good rums. Doesn't blow you away with the always similar sherry profile, keeping it nicely sweet for the end customer, but value for money is okay, although there are cheaper alternatives. One sample was enough!

The bigger brother of the everybody's darling with 38%. Seems more mature and grown-up. Equally more intense with roasted aromas, marzipan. More of a daily sipper than a party rum (like the little brother). Ergo: fits well!

Great. First time having the Wagemut XO in the glass. Very round sipper with some wood, vanilla and sherry influence. Probably good for beginners. For me, it could handle a few % more. :)))

This rum was served at the Kavalierbar for browsing the rum list. Pleasantly fruity, sweet and complex on the nose. On the palate the sweetness overwhelms, at least after having already drunk an unsweetened rum.

Just the ABV value suggests that this won't be the most interesting Foursquare. It smells like how a rum from Barbados could smell, but taste-wise it's a rather uninteresting, even completely uninteresting juice. On the other hand, a transitional rum into unsweetened rums.

Nose: Rather reserved, very round/soft, alcohol doesn't sting. Orange or candied orange like in a Christmas cake, some vanilla and other unidentified spices, minimal wood notes. Mouth: incredibly soft, creamy mouthfeel, alcohol barely noticeable despite increased strength, spices, wood, vanilla dominate. Alcohol only noticeable when swallowing and a bit tingling. Finish: At most medium length, could be a bit stronger. I miss a bit of a kick here. Overall a nice, well-made rum that doesn't overwhelm and is easy to approach. A gentle introduction to the Foursquare world.

Not tasty. At least not sweetened... Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday sipping. This is a rum especially appreciated by rum lovers who are fed up with sugar and looking for a gentle, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel. Simply pleasant and not aggressive flavors.

Price-performance banger from Wagemut, which doesn't get enough attention alongside all the spirit drinks. 17-year Foursquare rum with a noticeably higher potstill share compared to the Wagemut PX-Cask, finished in an emptied PX sherry cask. This makes it a very pleasant sipper, but also really dangerous because you keep pouring yourself another glass – both for beginners and advanced drinkers. How much I'd love to taste this base rum at cask strength.

Nose of rum spice, vanilla, clear sherry influence which bothers me, almost like a flaw; palate similar, nice wood spice, quite complex and then comes the damp sherry cask, can't convince me, would have been better without (in my opinion).

Lots of wood/oak/cask without turning too bitter. Plus light raisin/sherry notes. Quite dry, which makes it a bit thin, less mild, round, creamy but of course also sweeter than the PX Cask. Personally, I like the PX Cask way better; the 'wet' sherry connection without losing the rum character makes it something special, plus very rounded. The XO is, in my opinion, too expensive for what it offers, definitely a high-quality base rum, but in the end not significantly better than other, cheaper, and for me more pleasing sherry maturations like Brugal 1888, Pampero Anniversario. From memory, quite similar to the Saison Sherry-Cask, which also had wood, sherry, dry. Drinks: - Neat: 3.5/5

Nose: A soft scent caresses the nose. The sherry cask is not too intrusive but present. It reminds me of the Wagemut PX, yet stands out from it. Notes of vanilla, wood, dried fruits and of course sherry. On the tongue it is pleasant, you hardly notice the 43.8% vol. The 18-year-old FOURSQUARE rum proves to be a soft and round base. The aging in sherry casks gives this rum a special, pleasant note. Aftertaste: The finish is rather dry but not too short. At the back of the palate, the memory of the soft, round taste lingers for a short moment, slowly fading. At no point is this successful rum even remotely alcoholic or sharp. A very pleasant overall impression of a rum to enjoy, for a cozy evening.
