One for people who already love New Yarmouth funk and want it turned up. Overripe banana, pineapple, glue and nail-varnish come out swinging, then an Islay cask lays smoke and peat over the top. At 65.6% it runs hot and long, oily right through the finish. Most tasters find the two halves work; the peat is the part you'll either enjoy or wish was quieter.

And yet another new daily winner. Finally cask strength. Great stuff, typical Jamaica. Esters and the typical tropical fruits like pineapple and (fermented) banana. Glue is still noticeable. A super rum. Very tasty.

You have to like it. A full broadside of esters and funk and fruit with an Islay finish that is absolutely disturbing and too dominant for me... For me, this pretty much destroys the New Yarmouth profile, which is why I have to deduct a lot of points here, sorry.

Sacred slap! A mix between the usual tropical fruits of New Yarmouth, but no restraint on the oily, fatty side and especially smoky. The length is quite crazy but the alcohol and the spicy side are too pronounced. But at 70€, I don't think you can dream of better on NY.

Franconian Tasting Gang goes Tiki This is definitely suitable as a mixer, but not really one of my favorites. But at least it's better there than when you have it neat in a glass. There it is clearly too alcoholic and too whisky dominant for me.

Good and discreet addition of the Islay barrel

The nose surprisingly well-hidden alcohol, esters led by overripe banana, pineapple, smoke and wood, iodine with a slightly medical-pharmacy note, vanilla and molasses. On the palate oily, iodine, pepper, smoke and peat powerfully make themselves known, alcohol warms slightly, very ripe bananas and sour pineapple appear, smoke lasts long and nicely warms from inside.

#5345 24.05.2025 Finally back after a very nice dinner at "Argentina Steak House" in Flensburg. Time for some samples backed by Psy Trance 2025. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, overripe, ester, light wood, light glue, light peat, banana, spice, light polish. Palate Intense, ester, light wood, fruity, overripe, light pineapple, light polish, faint salt, light oily, light smoke, light glue. Finish Long and warm, oily, intense, fruity, light smoke, medium spicy, spice. Empty glass Peat, light smoke, fruits, light varnish, light glue.

this really tastes good to me, I was expecting more craziness, like it's strength - 65,6% just goes to feel and long, but I did not expect it to be so sweet at the beginning. The esters tickle the mouth too and the Islay smokiness rounds it all off nicely.

Even though I'm not a fan of whiskey finishes in principle, this finish fits together quite well. At the beginning, the typical, in this case relatively untamed High Ester profile. In the finish then light Islay smoke notes. Fits together quite well.

On the nose, the classic NY with its tropical fruits, nail polish, a good dose of esters. The Islay finish is present but discreet. On the palate the esters and nail polish are still well present, the fruits are sweet. The Islay finish is more present than on the nose, with a bit of smoke and peat, without becoming overwhelming. Very nice for such a young product.

To the question of how many edges and corners a rum can have, the answer here would probably be: Yes! Extremely exciting flavor profile - and at the same time somewhat overwhelming.At the beginning it tastes on the palate almost like a DOK and then in the finish you have the impression to lick still warm freshly laid asphalt.Somehow great and at the same time I will never finish the 😅

In the mouth, the Islay finish gives you a full 12. After a few seconds and especially in the finish, Jamaica comes to the fore. Very pleasant at the end. It definitely helps to leave the rum to stand for 15 minutes, which makes the Islay less dominant. Unfortunately, the Islay is not my cup of tea.... hence the points. But 2cl of it in MaiTai is really cool.
