Hampden S.B.S Jamaica (11. German Rum Festival) C<>H 2020

Hampden fans who don't mind a sherry twist will find a lot to like here. Overripe pineapple, marzipan and that nail-polish ester punch lead, with PX raisins and a touch of sweetness sitting underneath. At nearly 59% it's got real power, and the alcohol isn't perfectly tucked in. The finish leans sherry — some love how it plays with the esters, others wish it stepped back.

The community says
  • Big pineapple esters
  • PX-sherry depth
  • But: ABV not fully tucked

Young Hampden ester bomb with a PX-sherry twist Most tasters rate this a very likeable young Hampden — big esters, grilled pineapple, PX sweetness. The recurring debate isn't quality but whether the finish adds or muffles the funk.

Surprised me in a positive way. C<>H character comes through in the nose and palate. Finish is unfortunately short and flat. The finish fortunately does not predominate...but without a finish it would probably be a bit better for me. A little more ABV would have been good. PLV with 82€ for 0.7 liters and GRF release in my eyes absolutely okay. Now off into the May Tai with it.

I definitely liked that rum… A overwhelming mix of high ester, grilled pineapple and sherry notes 🤤 After the 3rd or 4th sip and some rest i found some delicious almond notes too. On the palate you can find almost the same notes. The alcohol is not integrated well, so it‘s a „bit“ spicy on the tongue. The finish is quite long and bit astringend.

This one was a nice surprise and the price is pretty good so one bottle ended up in my shopping bag. Nice and fruity with the Jamaica notes and light wood. Not a super funky Jamaican but still does what it's supposed to 😊

Oh yeah, Hampden. I love those esters, and the Sherry makes this one a bit sweeter. It is a dangerous rum, inviting you to sip another one and another one... The nose had quite a bite to it, but that's maybe also due to my new glass. On the tongue the continental flavour is very strong (Ananas, rotten fruit, intense Esters), as expected, and the Sherry, does seem to fit quite well in this version - I find this a bit more interesting than the Pagosa.
