Grapes, cherries and a winey-spiced edge from the Madeira finish sit over the usual Foursquare vanilla and caramel, with roasted wood underneath. Here you get a 10-year-old cask strength with a tasty Madeira finish at a more than fair price. The finish is noticeable but not overpowering. This rum gets a fruity touch with grapes, apple, and cherries on the nose. Very chocolaty and spicier/sour wine on the palate, with a slight honey or sometimes marzipan note. Could be a bit rounder, more intense, or a bit more complex, but considering the price, it's quite good. The biggest downside is the alcoholic sharpness, which causes a piercing taste.

Fruity Foursquare with a clear Madeira influence instead of the classic dryness. Vanilla, caramel, wood, and spicy wine notes come together harmoniously and pleasantly robust. Not maximally complex, but full of character, approachable, and with a strong great value.

#4588 26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirit These bottles need a membership to get your hands on and it's a bit sad because the extra ABV actually male them better than the regular releases. Nose Wood, light roasted, fruity, light caramel, spice. Palate Wood, light roasted, sweet, dried fruit, light coconut, caramel. Finish Medium to long, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light caramel.

No. 2 for today. A very good rum. A light sweetness on the nose, tending towards vanilla. The palate also has a nice light sweetness, tending towards vanilla and caramel. But a very tasty rum.

Tasted at The Village fair 2026 A very tasty and smooth Foursquare with Madeira finish. I found it nicely fruity, sweetish with Madeira notes, some wood and subtle spiciness. Great product!

Upfront: The price / value ratio is great here! You get a (slightly) above average Foursquare with a Madeira finish which adds a nice sweet wine-note. The typical vanilla is more in the background and a coconut is not in sight. Nevertheless, a nice sipper, not too complicated and therefore a nice companion if your focus is somewhere else, rather than writing detailed Rum notes.

Sample from Hanse Spirit. Quite restrained on the nose, on the palate it hits me with a crazy olive note, which at first seems like a flaw but then is just barely acceptable. I’ve never had so much olive in a Foursquare before, do you need that? Not necessarily bad, but a bit unbalanced.

Not the classic Foursquare nose with the distinctive coconut note, but this rather in the background. Instead, relatively musty and pungent, which unfortunately became more intense with time. On the palate quite flat with perceptible alcohol and a sour note. Unfortunately, not so mine.

Für mich einer der besten Rums die ich bisher probiert habe Sehr fruchtig ,schöne röstige Holznoten und dazu noch in der nase schöne ester anklänge. Die 54,7 % halten sich allerdings nicht zurück also hier ist etwas wumms dahinter .

Grundstoff ist ein 10 Jahre in Bourbon Fässern gelagerte Rum von Foursquare, welcher danach noch 3 Monate in einem Madeira Fass verweilte. Bei Erstkontakt ist der Alkohol ist für die enthaltenen Aromen viel zu stark. Nach Abklang des Alkohols kommt das Fruchtige und Süße recht schwach zum Vorschein. Da hatte ich auf etwas mehr gehofft. Auch beim dritten Schluck und langer Verweildauer im Glas änderte es sich leider nicht. Mein Tip: An kalten Tagen im Kakako macht er sich für Rumfreunde doch noch bezahlt (nur deshalb 6.9 und meine 4 Flaschen Vorrat :-)).

The Madeira finish gave the rum a nice woody-spicy touch. Slightly too bitter wood notes prevent a better rating, but the alcohol is very very well integrated and the rum is a very nice sipper.

Top balanced on the nose, the Madeira comes through, also very balanced on the palate. Fruit, spice and cask are well distributed, long finish where the alcohol then comes through.

Es fällt mir noch schwer Geschmack gut zu beschreiben. Man riecht eine Fruchtigkeit die an Wein erinnern kann. Gleichzeitig nehme ich auch holzigen Geruch wahr der „alt“ riecht (würde aber nicht „modrig“ sagen). Geschmacklich ist er nicht süß für mein Empfinden. Eine alkoholische Schärfe ist definitiv da und macht den Abgang mittel bis lang. Insgesamt lecker und evtl noch besser wenn die Schärfe etwas abgemildert wäre. Vielleicht probiere ich es später nochmal mal mit 1-2 Tropfen Wasser.

Recht ausgewogen, deutlicher Einfluss durch das Madeira-Finish, viel Frucht, leichte Würzigkeit, cremige Vanille, deutlich spürbare aber moderate Süße.
