We start our games and rumtasting evening with delicious homemade food and this rum to go with it. Delicious rum, nice and sweet and spicy.

The nose hits you full force with orange peal followed closely by cinnamon, clove and grapefruit with subtle hints of caramel after as if to say "there is rum under this spice". The palate is very sweet, not clogging but very, very sweet. The spices follow after the sugar. Clove, cinnamon, cardamom and orange peal all present and all pretty powerful. The spices stay for the finish but there is a roasted nut not that takes me back to the unspiced Chairman's Reserve. Overall, I prefer the unspiced and by quite some way. Though, if you like spiced rum. This has the spice in spades.

smells of Christmas with the taste of nutmeg and cloves touch vanilla and orangey after taste which lingers smoothly away

For me, to much of spices in it. But, to be honest, it's made from good rum (Chairman's Reserve) and it will be more enjoyable during Christmas, because the flavouring is a like some Christmas desert (Swedish cinnamon and something else?).

Delicious rum. Nice start to a game night

Cinnamon, caramel, vanilla. Dark golden pour. It's certainly nicer than the Cruzan or various Captain Morgan varieties, but that shouldn't really be a surprise. The spices tastes more genuine and the Rum less sugary and syrupy. Had a glass in St. Croix.

Super intense nose, especially orange. Perfect for an Old Fashioned.

Too much Orange taste
Review by Rick Meyer
No burn with an abundance of orange, clove and cinnamon …. nose and palate. Tasty! EDIT: I strongly recommend spiced rum be in its own category for the ratings system here. The wide swings in scores don’t represent the category, instead we get those that prefer 55%+ rocket fuel rating a spiced rum in the 5-6 range. It completely skews the bias of the group.

Ranking it down now. After re-visiting the now opened bottle after few weeks, it developed a bitter aftertaste. Like biting into an orange pith. Not sure why

Incroyable en rum old fashioned & Cable Car. Épicé, sucré avec des notes d'orange. Un rapport qualité prix difficile à battre à 22€ la bouteille de 1L

I made this account for the sole reason of warning people just how bad this rum is. I’ve tried numerous rums over the years. I mainly enjoy more aged, dark rums. Especially love Guyana, Barbados and Jamaican rum. Like many, I started out with spiced rums, and I wanted to branch out and try something different from the standard, bland ones you see everywhere. This particular bottle was very highly rated, one of the top-rated on both RumX and RumRatings, and unlike some of the rarer high-rated bottles, it was fairly easy to get. That made me curious to try it. I’ve now tried it in many different ways: neat, on ice, in a Cuba Libre, just with coke, in a Planter’s Punch even out of curiosity as an old fashioned and I just can’t seem to make it drinkable. The best way I can describe the taste, and especially the aftertaste, is bubblegum. It has a very candy-like quality. Strangely, it doesn’t taste artificial, but I can’t imagine what spice or combination of spices could ever naturally create this flavor. It’s sweet, pungent, and has this bizarre bubblegum note that feels like it shouldn’t even exist in a rum. It’s such a weird, off-putting profile that I can’t wrap my head around it. At this point, the bottle will probably rot in my cabinet forever. I can’t think of a single drink I could use it in. Even in something overpowering, like a Moscow Mule or mixed into Dr. Pepper, the pungent bubblegum flavor bulldozes everything else. It just never tastes good.

I'll be honest, this review is from memory, as I haven't drank chairman's spiced in a few months, but this is my first review, and chairman's has left a lasting impression on my palette. That should say enough already. Chairman's spiced is my idea of Christmas in a bottle. Strong notes of Orange and orange peel, along with cinnamon, nutmeg and other wintery spices. Tastes good with some ice, or mixed with coke. This one deserves a permanent spot on the shelf

I'm not a fan of spiced rums, but this one isn't bad. However, it's a bit too sweet for my taste. The nose carries notes of caramel and cinnamon, with the palate emphasizing cinnamon. The aftertaste is pleasant as the initial sweetness fades, giving way to a lingering vanilla flavor.

#5613 31.08.2025 Chairman's Reserve tasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. I was kind of surprised at this one. Usually I don't like spiced rum but this one is pretty well balanced. The price tag is also pretty good and I'd like to try it in a cola one day. The wood is well balanced with spices and some orange and clove. Medium long finish that has some cinnamon and citrus to it. There is a natural sweetness to it and I think most will be able to drink it.
