Expect briny olive, salted vanilla, a bit of dried fruit and leather, and that fermented, cardboard-glue edge. Fruity nose, salty palate. Most helpful mixed review
Another nice white from S.B.S and the price is pretty good compared to what you get. This one can also be used to sip, on the rocks or in a mixer. I liked it a lot on the rocks as well where other flavours come to life. Not a Habitation Velier, but still pretty decent.

Too intense for me personally, with notes of salty licorice, cardboard and bitter burnt caramel. In the daiquiri it's quite tasty with salty papaya, but all in all not a highlight in my opinion.

Compared to the HV unaged PM, this is much more rough. However, this is more clearly noticeable „the PM profile“ while the HV brings quite a few unexpected notes along.

Olive and roast veal on the nose. Peppery and fermented. Fruit and sweetness too. The palate is surprisingly salty. Fermented vegetables and spices (vanilla), umami and sweetness. The finish is short, but the fermented side lingers for a long time. An interesting rum, but not really balanced.

It's not really my cup of tea on its own, but it's good to be unaged. So without further ado, I added a few ingredients and tried it out as a blender. It is definitely suitable for this, but unfortunately not the non plus ultra.

Here is an ungaged Port Mourant from S.B.S. Not bad at all. Nose is very fruity, tropical fruits in particular. Olive is also recognizable. On the palate, I find it very herbal/floral, but also slightly spicy.

A rarity to get an unaged PM to the nose: Tropical fruity with a honey sweetness at first, then slightly spicy with vanilla and newsprint. At the back something slightly musty, almost musty, plus olive and saffron. 78 Palate: oh, something surprisingly sweet and creamy before a salty bitter wave comes in and then gives way to anise and vanilla. Turns slowly towards dark brioche and gets drier and drier. Turning greener at the end, green tea. 75 Not all that bad, should have tried, also has a good plv. I'm into matured after all....

This rum I bought for cocktails. But once I have it in the glass after the SBS Albion, I can also write a short tasting note. The nose is intense and earthy-spicy: wet wood, damp roots, cardboard, caraway uhd salt liquorice. - could also be a North German specialty. The vanilla yellow fruit of the Albion is completely absent here, but there is glue and iodine. In the mouth, a few fruits do emerge: Quince, gooseberry, rather green and unripe, plus Very mineral and salty notes. The finish is rather short and salty. Really good I find him in drinks. In the Mojito he comes good whether as a base or splitbase spirit. Good release at a very good price 👍

Somehow I completely forgot that I have this rum on my shelf. Unfortunately, I don't have a bottle or sample of the unaged PM from HV for a direct comparison. From memory, the HV tasted better to me, but I also find this one very interesting. Let's see how it does in cocktails.

Roasty, dark, chocolate, olive, honey and vanilla on the nose. Focus on salty vanilla. Creamy, honey-sweet cocoa. Naturally a bit edgy, but also here: surprisingly mild and yet aromatic for 57%, worth trying, but I don't need the bottle.

This is a fantastically new experience. Something unaged that you don’t often get to taste before it hits the barrel and it has the funky punchiness of an unaged pot still rum; some sour yogurt-y or briny notes before but the pallet rounds out to the chocolate and baking spices of a classic Guyana.

A rather strange mix, and I'm not used to these notes. The nose is a little disappointing and doesn't open up too much, staying on a brine/leather mix. On the palate, it's almost creamy, with brine, saltiness and a hint of sweet pepper. Not bad, but a little short, staying on the surface.

Very fruity on the nose, but then salty on the palate - a combination you rarely experience. So far only enjoyed neat and very recommendable for an unaged rum. Surely also good as a base for a Mojito.

On the nose: this has that smell unaged higher abv rum, doesn't really offer much on my nose. Oily, floral notes. Expecting this to be leaning more to a mixer rum. Taste: high abv kick and unaged rum notes are present. Still oily, smooth mouth feel. Hints of dried fruits and leather. Floral notes. Finish: Long. Dry. Warm. Hints of anime. In the category of high abv and unaged rums, i much prefer French Agricole rums, because they offer muchbricher palate. This could surprise me in a daquiri, but this doesnt work for me as a sipper

Toasty, dark, chocolate, olive, honey and vanilla on the nose. Quite similar in the mouth, but with more emphasis on salty vanilla. Creamy, honeyed cocoa. A bit edgy, of course, but again: surprisingly mild yet aromatic for the 57%. I like it very much, Guyana seems to have done it to me.

Even though it's not 100% my taste, I was impressed and fascinated by how intense and complex an unaged rum can be. A lot happens on the tongue here and it lingers for a long time. Extremely fascinating

I was really pleased to catch an unaged PM. The nose amazes me, many aromas as you know them from the aged. Very tasty. On the palate then herbal, spicy,a pinch of salt,alcoholic and strangely enough wood flavors. :-D Pure he is not so my taste, I blend in with the too sweet Strong Navy from RumDeLuxe and there he fits top.

What does rum actually taste like without barrel, finish, etc!? Very interesting series (Single Origin rum) with ancient monsters and undrinkable expressions. This PM is almost mild at 57%. Sweetish and creamy with a mild finish. PM can also be tasted but not so present (actually a pity). A bit salty and olive. No bitter peaks (which is probably what "pencil" means?). Very tasty rum, not complex. Interesting compared to aged PM.

If it was from Velier, it would have been sold out long ago, it's strange what a bottle design can sometimes do. If you like aged PMs you should definitely try it, I always taste salty celery, but with PM everyone always tastes something different anyway.

It is excellent , the aroma is very pleasant I feel tropical fruits with a touch of sweet honey , the first half explodes in the mouth classic , in each subsequent half you taste more and more flavours , fine redolent, cardboard , spices etc.

After the first tasting, I actually can't 100% describe what I tasted. After every sip, the flavor profile felt a little different. On the nose, for me, definitely cocoa, milk chocolate, spices, coconut. On the palate, cocoa, milk chocolate – very dominant, spices, creamy, dry. On the finish, licorice, milk chocolate, warm. Additionally, I have many nuances that I can't describe yet. My conclusion: I need to spend more time with this rum. It's highly intriguing and has an unusual flavor profile. At least tonight, it exceeds my ability to clearly identify all the flavors. That's why my rating is a cautious 7.8 for now.
