Aged-agricole fans are the sweet spot here — this 11-year Depaz keeps the fresh grassy sugarcane while wrapping it in Cognac-cask fruit. Mirabelle plum, dried apricot, honey and licorice up front, with wood, pepper and a touch of glue underneath. Several tasters call it "sehr rund," and even agricole skeptics say this is the one that won them over. The 59.7% is felt but mostly well tucked in.

Very fine, great Agricole. Perfectly balanced, dried apricots (which I love), alcohol super integrated. The only highlight of the Rumfestival Vienna. Detailed tasting follows. Edit: Now tasted in peace from the sample. Great nose. Cookie dough, slightly tart, dried apricot, polish, solvent and slightly animalic, spice, especially some licorice and grassy/fresh. Nicely balanced, complex, alcohol well integrated. Crisp, warm, very slightly musty in the mouth. Dried fruit, licorice and grass on the finish. Super Agricole. Now bought a bottle after all...😅

In the ears of rum nerds, round is often synonymous with boring. You can learn from Cognac that this doesn't have to be the case. This rum from the Cognac barrel is proof of the rum category. The nose is great class, a wonderful harmony of dry grass, cider (fermented apple), dried apricots and the spicy influence of the wood. In the mouth it is more powerful - but the almost 60% is perfectly integrated. The aftertaste turns into an apple pie made from must, overripe, spicy apples (Topaz, my favorite variety!), with nuts or sesame. A hint of salty liquorice completes the picture. The hay and wood remain and set the stage for the great fruit. The finish is just as round as the rest of the rum, with perfectly integrated tannins that linger in the mouth for a long time. I'm so glad I bought another bottle - I was very unsure because my sample at the GRF was heavily tainted by the Dillon Bdc I had in my glass beforehandQ. Great rum. Update 24.03.2024: still a very good rum, I can no longer understand my great enthusiasm. Perhaps the oxidation has taken its toll on it. -3

Really nice Agricole Single Cask. Extremely round and complex. Great cask selection! Definitely one of the best "newer" depaz single casks to date. Very relaxed to drink and surprisingly drinkable.

Delicious round Agricole of high quality. Typical grassy and young wood aromas stand out immediately on the attack. This rum elegantly settles on the palate and then departs with a medium-long finish. Elegant, tasty agricole without being outstandingly good. Better to pay a little more and get a single cask bottling from 2000, 2002 or 2004.

Aromatically nicely complex, not quite perfectly integrated alcohol - but a lot of flavor diversity with wood, allspice and light pepper, typical Agricole notes of nougat and grass, coffee, licorice...exciting selection and in my eyes one of the top Agricoles from 2022.

I clearly have some catching up to do with Agricole. So far, I have found very few that really convince me. I had heard some good things about this one. Nose: promisingly complex, spicy-woody and creamy-fruity-sweet at the same time. A mix of quince, papaya and mirabelle. Next to it, licorice toffee with vanilla and slightly moving into vinegare, with pickled chili peppers and herbs. Adds some wax and resinous wood. Lightly toasted at the back. 88 Palate: clearly Agricole, but strong and astringent at first, then goes from a slight bitterness to salty and woody acidity and pepper to green, grassy sugar cane. Has nen light clove flavor with vanilla. On the second sip I also find menthol and anise. Grassy and herbaceous finish. 86 59.7% do the really good!

That’s a perfect dram to finish a hard working day. Perfection from start to end. The alcohol is integrated so well! Nose: Glue, polish, mirabelle plum, yellow fruits, dried apricot, freshness, a lot of licorice, gingerbread. The Rumperator aka Dirk Becker has once again demonstrated a fine nose. What strikes me first is the fruitiness. Yellow fruits such as mirabelle and physalis dominate. Behind that, a pleasant green floral freshness (not grassy at all, more towards geranium), plus wood and caramel. On the palate come vegetal notes, licorice and somehow a soft fruit brandy. Finishes with burnt sugar, toasty aromas and vegetal notes. I like it well!

It welcomes you with a very voluminous scent, inviting. It smells of red fruits, the plum is very dominant. Further, floral, woody and vanilla notes also appear. The taste is grassy. Licorice, cinnamon, honey and pepper can be tasted. The finish is long and is accompanied by leather, licorice,earthy and floral notes. The alcohol is also noticeable. It is a successful bottling 🥃.

Nose is very inviting with honey sweetness and lots of fruits supplemented by fresh and herbal notes. On the palate a similar sensation. Honey and fruits but with vegetal notes kore present compared to the nose. Very good.

Beautiful piece, very balanced. Great aromas that complement each other wonderfully. I'll probably have to buy a bottle of this in the near future. Conclusion: a very fine rum, at a good price. What's more, it's still easy to get without having to pay a horrendous premium for it.

A sophisticated and very elegant Depaz. The nose is very fine, first quite sweet on the cane, slightly honeyed and caramelized, then on spices (nutmeg, licorice, cinnamon, vanilla, pepper), wood, chocolate, fruits (dried apricot, yellow). The grassy and fresh side comes later, accompanied by quite delicate polish notes. A very nice nose from the agricultural world. The attack on the palate is lively but the aromas settle perfectly. The grassy side of agricultural rums is quickly balanced by the spices (vanilla, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, licorice), the wood and the sweet notes of the cane. The fruitiness is light but sufficient to give roundness to the profile. The whole is harmonious and coherent, very well done for an agricultural profile often criticized for the vegetal side, here well tamed but without dulling the juice. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, fresh and with a slightly more persistent grassy side in the mouth, but controlled enough to let the other aromas express themselves. Spices, wood, dried fruits, leather and roasted notes form the final bouquet of this elaborate, balanced and refined Depaz. A very beautiful selection.

Cracked open the bottle right away, had tried it at the GRF right at the start and today my impression is confirmed. Simply wonderfully smooth Agricole, wonderfully fruity thanks to the pure aging in Cognac casks, makes you want to pour another glass immediately. 😊 Dirk Becker really showed a fine nose here 👍 Unfortunately, the bottle is now empty, but even the last drop managed to impress. Bravo!

Agricole in top form - a few drops of water tease out even more. Very round, floral, fruity and pleasantly sweet. I really like the pear. Spices and wood complete the picture. Could be my favorite Depaz. Blind, I might have classified it as whisky.

On aeration, the cane is mineral, fresh with tea, the fruits are dried with apricots, some polish is out, various barrel impact notes like leather, burnt sugar, licorice. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is slightly sweet with sugarcane honey, grassy, vegetal, flowery, mineral, fresh with tea, fruity with yellow, green fruits, dried apricots, the wood brings pastry, brioche, butterscotch, nuts, spices like vanilla, cinammon, pepper.Some licorice is out on oxidation. 8,8:The finish is long, very balanced, dry and tannic, as various fruits like mango, raspberry, citrus, dried and yellow fruits pair grassy, flowery, mineral, fresh sugarcane and slightly roasted, spicy wood..

Fruity, spicy, grassy... Everything you expect from a great Agricole. Addendum: Today tasted again together with Depaz 2002 Barrel 706. Both very fruity and spicy on the nose. The 2002 perhaps a bit spicier, I like it slightly better here. On the palate, the 2002 shows a bit more maturity, but the alcohol is much more intrusive, even though it has just under 2% more ABV. Overall a tie, with a slight tendency to the 2002. After another 20 minutes in the glass, the preference on the nose shifts again. Now I tend back to the RumClub 😂

The nose is definitely something special, as you get a lovely harmony of fruit, flower, vanilla and honey. That fits very well together and feels very smooth. In the mouth it continues similarly, but now more licorice and brown sugar come through. The typical Agricole only shows up in the finish with many dark, bitter and floral notes. Great bottling!

A good start to the weekend. A wonderfully oily Agricole with the typical grassy notes. The nearly 60% are already noticeable and give the rum a long warm finish. I like it already but I still hoped for a little bit more.

At first, it didn't really convince me, but the longer it's open and the more the bottle empties, the more interesting I find it. Apple pie with slightly grassy notes and a nice spiciness. In the end, for me, really a very successful Agricole and a good cask selection! Edit: The last drops were really tasty again, so I adjusted the rating once more.

Nice Depaz bottling for the guys from Berlin! Resinous-sweet with plenty of tannins, but perfectly balanced. Plus a pleasant fruitiness that starts with yellow fruits (mirabelle) on the nose and finally moves to red fruits (cherry, currant) on the palate. I really like it!

Always a great rum experience. This Depaz is definitely among the best agricoles I know. Fruity, spicy, body, alcohol perfectly integrated. I've had the bottle open for 2 years and it still tastes like at the beginning, according to my memory.

And here we have a nice Agricole from the house of Depaz. It actually has almost everything an Agricole must have. Vanilla is recognizable, but also slightly woody. Cane sugar is also present, this rum feels very fresh.

Superb nose on this Depaz, nicely woody and vanilla, with vegetal touches and spices. On the palate, it's intense: first a very powerful wood before the licorice and a fresh, vegetal side take over. Finish on leather. Very powerful, too much for me, but very nice.

Very pleasant and round on the nose. Typically long-aged Agricole. No trace of alcohol to be guessed here. On the palate, unfortunately yes, but still good to drink for nearly 60%. Overall a very fine old Agricole.

On the nose: Cognac barrel influence is present straight from the beginning. Woody, vanilla, dried fruits with fresh, grassy notes. Nice balance and pleasant on the nose. Taste: Light licorice, vegetal, grassy, woody with lovely dried fruits notes. Light peppery notes. Finish: Woody, roasted, grassy, spices and dried fruits. Medium-long finish. Great aged agricole rum. Here the agricole notes are not lost and they are nicely blended with barrel notes and fruity notes.

A nice Depaz, the nose is full of red fruits, but the wood is noticeable along with some eucalyptus notes. Drink side, alcool is pretty aggressive, I can find wood, with some bitterness and astringency. Some spices and liquorice are there, but also freshness with some vegetal and mint notes.

Dégustation à l'aveugle. C'est un Agricole à n'en point douter 😉 mais je ne pourrai pas aller plus loin sans me fier au hasard car je ne reconnais pas la distillerie. C'est un Agricole relativement peu boisé, bien sûr les fruits jaunes et avec une certaine douceur. Vraiment assez agréable. Surpris que ce soit un depaz. J'ai sorti le private cask premium spirits pour comparer et il s'avère que celui ci est un peu meilleur pour son coté fruité.

Ce single cask fullproof est une pure merveille. Après une légère aération, on rentre dans les épices, le boisé délicat, les fruits cuits à l’alcool, la confiture compotée. En bouche, l’alcool est parfaitement intégré et fait ressortir les arômes du nez avec une longue finale douce et d’une rondeur marquante.

Very good and balanced Agricole. Lots of vegetal and sugarcane from nose to finish. Especially the nose convinces with yellow fruits, especially mirabelle plum, some glue and baking spices. On the palate then more honey and dried fruits. Alcohol well integrated.

Sipped, enjoyed and wondered about the familiar taste at the back of my gums... Then after reading other reviews I recognized licorice immediately. The first time, actually this taste springs to mouth and mind. This Rhum is intense, due to the alcohol which has a certain burn, unfortunately. I guess a bottle would mellow out over time a bit, but this is only a sample. But, on the other hand the higher ABV meant more flavours, which I liked. Also there was an intense sweetness at the start, and all over the mouth the memory of sugarcane... This is a good one for me.

The nose is fine from the start, but on the palate and finish it’s too harsh and alcoholic for me without water. With water it becomes much more pleasant and then also reveals apricots, grassy notes, floral aromas and furniture polish on the palate, plus some licorice. With water 86/100 or 6/10

Nose warm, rich – rather dark fruity with a hint of coffee powder, on the palate lots of drive, crisp and grassy-slim. Despite the strong % strength still full and rich. There’s a lot to discover here.

On the nose wood, roasted peanuts, vegetal, premature red and yellow fruits, tobacco, milk chocolate, butter and a bit of caramel. On the palate it's explosive with wood, roasted peanuts, red fruits, pepper, coffee, licorice, tobacco and earthy notes in the aftertaste. It doesn't have that bitter and sourish finish that was in the 58.2% version, which makes it definitely better and rounder. In the empty glass wood and tobacco.

Really tastes excellent, when swallowing I first had a slightly unpleasant taste briefly at the back of the throat, no idea what that was. Slightly dull, tart/bitter. Could simply have been Agricole, the mineral, fresh. Will do a second test to check that. But otherwise really very good!
