Wieder Eiche, erdig, sehr trocken. Und dann - diesmal zurückhaltend - die parfümierte Seife. Im Mund prickelnd und langer, guter Abgang. Intensive Zitrusfrüchte. Ausgewogen, gute Trinkstärke. Von oben (2015) runter verkostet bis jetzt der Beste.

Ohne Witz ist das der mit Abstand ekelhafteste "richtige" Rum, den ich jemals getrunken habe. Diese Seifennote ist sowohl in der Nase als auch auf dem Gaumen derart präsent und ekelhaft. Kaum zu glauben, dass Luca sowas abgefüllt hat...

Franconian Tasting Gang am 10.05.2024 Zuerst ein großes Dankeschön an DomM, der dieses Set zur Verfügung gestellt hat. Mich persönlich hat es nicht abgeholt das Profil. Bis auf eine Ausnahme ist mir dieser Seifengeschmack too much. Die Reste aus den Gläsern sind aber dann dank DomM und Serge in einem spontanen und überragenden Cocktail gelandet.

7,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is fresh and herbaceous sugar cane, dried fruits and pears, roasted, spicy wood, slightly medicinal. On aeration, the cane is flowery, but a bit musty, roastedness brings nuts and dark chocolate.There are citrus fruits, some mild solvents flow underneath... 7,8:On the palate, the attack is fruity with dried fruits like apricots, raisins, grassy and vegetal sugarcane, the wood is roasted with caramel, quite dry and spicy with vanilla, peppery.Resting the rum helps green aspect if cane with flowery, grassy and herbaceous touch, a bit musty, lime and berries, a bitterness is inevitable. 8:The finish is the most pleasant, less dry, more balanced with variety of fruits like dried apricots, currants, cherry, peaches and lime peel, passion fruit in the end.The cane is floral and grassy, fresh with tea, slightly earthy. The DNA of the series remains recognizable, in addition, a sweet mango note as well as light sulfur appears in the nose - extraordinary and still quite interesting. Unfortunately, the tide turns fundamentally in the mouth - it becomes soapy-floral. Although the basic profile remains recognizable, it is too clearly overlaid by the aforementioned off-notes in my perception. Unsurprisingly, no other picture emerges on the palate - thus unfortunately disappointing.

Parallel-Verkostung der Velier Saint James Reihe in der Franconian Tasting Gang. Danke Dom fürs Aufreissen 👌 Alles in Allem ist das Set für mich nicht herrausragend gut sondern eher durchschnittlich mit ein paar Ausreißern nach oben und unten. Kurzzusammenfassung nach Vintages: 2015 & 2014 waren für mich eher unangenehm. 2010 & 2012 besser aber immer noch nichts, was ich nochmal trinken wollen würde. 2008 & 2006 & 2004 waren dann deutlich besser und interessanter. 2002 dann wieder ein Totalausfall (Katzenpisse, die sich zu Multivitamintabletten weiterentwickelt und gar nicht zum Holz passt). 2000 dann wieder gut und 1998 für mich der Beste aus dem Set.

Großes VSGB-Vertical-live-Tasting von und mit Luca Gargano. 22.10.2022, 16:39. Nase: Holzig, aber eher Richtung Karton, kräuterig-wurzelig mit ein wenig Essig, Sahnetoffe mit einem Spritzer Zitrone, säuerlicher Johannisbeere und mehlige Banane. Dazu leicht Sesam. Gaumen: sehr viel Säure zu Beginn, leicht metallisch, bitter und in Zitrone übergehend. Dahinter kommt Heu und grasiges Zuckerrohr. Wirkt verdünnt. Im Abgang bleiben Zitrone und Heu. Platz: N: 5/10 G: 2/10
