Not too bad though I would have liked more complexity to a rum this age. Fruity with spices and really nice wood. I like that you get roasted coffee on the nose.

Franconian tasting gang on 10.05.2024 First a big thank you to DomM who provided this set. Personally, the profile didn't grab me. Except for one exception, this soap taste is too much for me. The leftovers in the glasses ended up thanks to DomM and Serge in a spontaneous and outstanding cocktail.

Beautiful nose. Wood, coffee, lots of caramel and then dried fruit. Balanced, not complex.In the mouth it continues right away. Crisp and warm. Some sweetness and very drinkable.Nothing extraordinary, but a very good rum. Certainly goes well with a cigar.

8,4:On the nose, fruits bump into our nosetrils like grapefruit, orange, lemon peel, yellow fruits, roasted sandal wood notes with nuts, spicy with cinnamon, nutmeg and flowery sugarcane. On aeration, dried and tropical fruits like banana, mango come out, stronger roastedness with leather, coffee, darker chocolate, caramel and pastry, spices like ginger. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is spicy, roasted and slightly fruity, herbaceous with leather, caramel, spices like cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, citrus, yellow fruits and banana.After resting the rum, the cane is flowery, fresh with tea, new wave of fruits arise like berries, toasted coconut, delicious pastry, fruitcake, a bit of sourness, dark chocolate. 8,4:The finish is long, dry with grassy, flowery sugarcane, tea, roasted wood notes, spicy and fruity, slightly tannic...

A bit fresher on the nose than the 1998. The sweet vanilla, caramel and grassy notes remain, along with tropical fruits. The palate reveals a pleasant melange of fruit, wood and spices, but lacks the final refinement.

Great VSGB Vertical live tasting by and with Luca Gargano. 10/22/2022, 17:03.Tropically aged for 21 years. Rare to find.Nose: intense, balanced and really tasty. Age really does the nose good. Old, fragrant sandalwood with a nice woody acidity and a subtle vinegar note. Black currant with blood orange, banana and cherry. Plus caramel, vanilla and a hint of Maggi background.Palate: seems and remains a bit thin, but has a pleasant woody bitter-salty attack, through lemon zest and currant to some chocolate, licorice to grass. No soap! Quite good in comparison.Place:N: 3/10G: 1/10

This set has been waiting a long time to be tasted. The 2000 is relatively similar to the 1998. Maybe the difference is that here in the nose and palate we have a bit of coffee. Also, the sugarcane is a bit more present.

Parallel tasting of the Velier Saint James range in the Franconian Tasting Gang. Thanks Dom for opening them 👌 Overall, the set is not outstandingly good for me but rather average with a few outliers up and down. Brief summary by vintages: 2015 & 2014 were rather unpleasant for me. 2010 & 2012 better but still nothing I would want to drink again. 2008 & 2006 & 2004 were then clearly better and more interesting. 2002 then a total failure again (cat pee that developed into multivitamin tablets and doesn't fit the wood at all). 2000 then good again and 1998 for me the best from the set.

For me one of the best expressions of the Saint James 25th AOC Anniversary series. An agricole rum with character, pleasant on the palate and with a really interesting nose. Sooner or later I will buy the 0.70 bottle.

Compared to other vintages from this release, the 2000 is definitely very dark in terms of flavours. Cocoa, dark chocolate, dark dried fruits, wood. I also feel like it is a very elegant rum, very well balanced and distinguished.

So this is really nice. Beautiful mahogany color, slowly sticks to the glass walls. The aroma has lovely tones of wood and a slight soapiness like many SJ. Very good taste, old, balanced, and the alcohol is well integrated. Tasty.

Beautiful aroma Salty almond on nose. On palate, finish - tobacco leaves 🍃 With time in glass more sweetness coming out.
