Tasted at a private tasting for a good cause. This was the last of the 10 Velier vintages. All very different and good. This was obviously the youngest. More young wood/virgin/US oaky than the others. Some of us really loved this one in contrast to the older ones. This was not the best but still a very good agricole rhum. Pretty woody but still fresh. Pretty floral/lavenderish. A bit "soapy" at times.

Le nez est correct mais en bouche un goût très particulier. L’impression de boire du parfum, j’ai lu goût de savon, y’a de ça. Peut peut-être un soucis sur mon échantillon mais pour moi limite buvable.

Étonnant, goûté en 1er sur le calendrier de l'avent et ça commence fort, je lui trouve plutot une grosse dominante d'herbe fraiche autant au nez que en bouche. Une finale vraiment tres longue et toujours sur ce même parfum de fraicheur, ou bois frais et jeune pourquoi pas. Très étonnant en tous cas par rapport à ce que je connais, même si ce n'est pas dans mes goûts. Je suis content de connaître mais surtout de ne pas avoir la bouteille.

I like the nose very much. Citrus fruits, macaroons, fine spice. The mouth continues in a similar way, very peppery and crisp. Floral perfume. Very good Agricole, easy to drink. Oscillates between floral perfume and floral soap.

Finally got the package with the replacement samples and this time nothing was broken. I will add them as I taste them over the next few days. This one is kind of light, but it is also a young rum. Fruity with spices and some wood.

Großes VSGB-Vertical-live-Tasting von und mit Luca Gargano. 22.10.2022, 16:18. Nase: holzig-würzig mit leicht saurer Johannisbeere, etwas Zitrone und ein wenig Essig, dann aber viel weißes Nougat und Toffee mit Vanille, leicht rauchig und hinten ein Hauch Seife. Angenehm. Gaumen: deutlich weniger Holzsäure als sein 20 Jahre alter Bruder. Fast weich aber auch recht dünn. Holzig zu Beginn, dann wird er aber schnell ziemlich seifig. Es kommt etwas Veilchen-Lakritz durch bevor er kräuterig, wurzelig und grasig wird. Grasiges Zuckerrohr, Veilchen und Fenchel im Abgang. Weniger Säure gefällt mir, mehr Seife nicht. Auch etwas zu dünn. Platz: N: 8/10 G: 7/10

Decent stuff, although nothing that would make me go too crazy. It's kind on one-dimensional, enjoyable to sip, delivering the level I expected. Nose is quite stingy at first, but over time it develops into some fruity / woody / dried flowers notes. On the palate I got mostly citrus oil, sweet toffee or caramel notes and a bit of bitterness.

Nejsem fanousek agricole rhumu. Moc se mi libi konzistence kdy jde o mahagon a krasne se tahne. Ve vuni je dominantni drevo a jako kdyby mydlo coz je zvlastni…po napiti je velmi jemny, alkohol dobre integrovany. V chuti jemne drevo, opet mydlo a prijemny dojezd.

Compared to the 2014, the floral note is hardly noticeable here. Otherwise similar on the nose, fresh fruit, light woody sweetness and herbs. On the palate, after the initial freshness, a floral, soapy note emerges again - with increasing time in the glass - which initially stands out with every sip and unfortunately makes it difficult for me to enjoy. In the finish, the soapy note recedes into the background. Smokiness, herbs and spices dominate, while the typical profile remains discernible. After the second attempt, I revise my original rating somewhat, as the soapy note is less present than I had originally perceived, at least in the finish. Nevertheless, I can't give it a good rating because I find the soapy note simply annoying.
