Minoki Mizunara Japanese Rum
Here's the twist: the Mizunara cask is the headline, but most tasters barely find it. What you get is a light, sweetish column-still rum — toffee, vanilla, a little coconut cream, and a dark chocolate finish several people call the best part. One reviewer even said it smells and tastes like Foursquare. The catch is it drinks thin and one-note for many.

How does Minoki Mizunara Japanese Rum taste?
Aggregated from 41 community reviews.
Light, vanilla-heavy sipper, thin Mizunara finish Most land around "okay but forgettable" — vanilla-heavy, mild, and thinner than the fancy Mizunara finish promises. A nice dark chocolate finish is the redeeming note for a few.

Very young, lots of vanillin from an apparently fresh Mizunara wooden barrel. Unfortunately a little flat, little taste of its own.

I have to taste it again in peace and analyze it carefully. Still a positive surprise for 40%. Nice experiment with this cask, but unfortunately it seems a little thin. But thanks to Serge for letting me try another rum outside the range.

In my opinion the rum itself tastes like a normal rum, nothing fancy. But I do like the long dark chocolate finish. For me it's a ok pick, I drank a lot worse one's. But I think I won't buy it again

Hm ... in my opinion a faceless column still rum without much flavor, in which the Mizunara barrel almost already forms the highlight 😂 mine is not. Use the bottle mostly for tiki cocktails, where I replace with it the "puertorican gold rum" and thus contribute by the wood finish something more to the drink.
Review by Artur Wahl
A mediocre rum, relatively flat and watery for my taste, with a dark chocolate lingering long in the aftertaste, making it the only highlight.

I'm actually a big mizunara fan, but here you can only find woody, acidic tones. Overall, it just seems a bit thin and flat with too many tannins. The alcohol is also not really well integrated. There is virtually nothing to be tasted here of the otherwise infamous mizunara barrel, which usually brings in lots of pepper, ginger and tropical spice and fruit notes. What a pity!
Review by Rado Vito
Smell is not bad with a promise to try something good. Unfortunately the promise remains unfulfilled. The taste is watered, uninteresting with the tones of vanilla.

High hopes for this since I love mizunara casks in general. Super elegant finishes that seldomly disappointed. Unfortunately there is not much of this here to be found. I barely understand why this is even advertised as much. Still an okay expression
