Fantastic nose. Green tea. Jasmin. Aniseed. Complex. In taste fruity. Some cask influence. Very very nice.

Waxy, dry & resiny. Woodspicy with delicate sweet undertones, citrus, sour cherry, estery & almost scotch like, grain / dry grass / hay bales. Taste is still dry, astringent, nutty - almonds and walnuts. Finish is spirit fwd, grappa, drying like crunching grape seeds, medium length but a tad thin. Tasted blind was surprised to discover a 24yo/a very inactive cask.

The nose is fairly light and undiscript. At first you would swear you are nosing a whisky but the peat smoke drops away and you are left with banana and sugar. On the mouth it again takes on a whisky lens, the low ABV is apparent with limited oiliness and fullness. Big peated whisky at the fore with some anise and licorice. As the mouth fades it’s all peated whisky elements and hard to get the layers. Great price for an older Port Mouranr rum, although if I wanted that I would go for scotch. Not to my tastes.
