Nose: intense, floral, continental fruits, honey Palate: suprisingly round with alcohol very well integrated. Floral, fruits, milk chocolate. While this is young and powerful, I would have guessed way more than two years of aging. Well done - nice debute for the Honey Batcher.

The wood influence is rather disturbing for me here. Could have more fruit and less herbs and wood. Alcohol could be better integrated. Personally, I find various unaged Ghana rums more exciting here.

I don't like it as much as the other Honey Batcher. This one is a bit too fruity for me, but otherwise it's okay. Alcohol is well integrated but as I said, the other one is much better.

Very cool release. Ghana in its purest form. Very flowery & herbal. Think it's a grenade in a daiquiri. Great to see a new bottler who dares to do something. 67% and Ghana as the first release. I like it better in direct comparison than the RumClub Cudjoe. Congratulations Fabi!

Nice and unique bottling. Unfortunately, I miss the drinkability and ease of drinking. Also very expensive for a rum that I would rather place in the mixing corner in a cool Mai Tai.

So, today is Ghana tasting! The Honey-Batcher is the first! The nose starts with esters, fruit and a certain sweetness, which is a good start. The longer it lingers in the glass, something fresh and flowery is added and later hay! On the palate it is creamy at first, the alcohol is quite strong at the beginning, but then gives way to a fresh, floral and sweet honey note! A little vanilla also joins in! The finish is mixed with a grassy, cereal-like, woody note... Overall a good rum, somehow between Jamaica funk and young Agricole!

My first Ghana. If I had drank this blind I would have thought that this was an agricole. A little too green and floral for me but a very expessive young rum.

Edit: Tried again today neat and as a mixer. I think I initially rated it a bit too high. For me, a solid rum. Fabian's new Fiji is clearly better, even if it goes in a different direction. So I corrected it slightly downwards. As you can see in the picture, this probably turns the rum world a bit upside down. For a rum from Ghana, super funky. At first, it's like a pear brandy, but then when the tingling in the mouth stops, it's like melted milk chocolate soaked in honey. I find it extremely tasty. I'm curious what Fabian will conjure up next.

Floral, fruity sweet best describes the smell... On the palate a bit edgier... but very drinkable despite 67%. Fruity and slightly sweet it comes across... Actually very pleasant!

Not bad, especially not for the first try. The typical Ghana DNA is immediately there, a load of esters and overripe bananas right in the eye ... uh ... the nose! 😊 African fruit explosion, just different from the Caribbean! 😋 Overall, the rum is a bit too one-dimensional for me. For example, the Rumclub nanny with her phenomenal Jamaica touch plays in a higher league, not to mention the (at the time) unbeatable value for money. The Honeybatcher seems to me one of the few rums that could have benefited from a finish to higher honors. But even so, it's a fine rum - and the finish can be kept in mind for future editions. 😉

Not bad. Not my favorite profile but very good rum. On the nose and in the mouth it's a bit too much like fruit brandy and pear brandy for me. I like the finish. I have to admit: I've had the bottle open for a while... but I didn't notice it myself. But now that I've read it, I can't deny the similarity to young or unaged PM.

Exciting! Slowly it becomes clear that Africa also has plenty of potential to deliver good stuff, Ghana sets a good example! At the beginning the rum immediately makes clear what it is made of: sugarcane juice! Anyone who has ever tried freshly pressed sugarcane knows what I mean. This enormous grassiness disappears (luckily) quickly, but remains subtly present and joins the exciting esters mainly in the form of pear and apple. Interestingly, the rum smells very soft and restrained despite 67% and only 2 years of aging, I expected differently. On the palate, however, it quickly shows what’s up and delivers full power. However, no alcohol disturbs here as you would expect from 67%, and instead of strong esters I mainly feel a fruity acidity. Somehow it reminds me of fruit brandy… Not a top product yet and somewhat one-dimensional, but for a two-year-old rum from a rather "new" rum country a statement. Should be watched in the future!

Funky Ghana says hello. Nice floral notes, citrus fruits, esters reminiscent of Jamaica and generally a nice surprise. Unfortunately still too far from my favorite half-Ghana (nanny maroons).

African Fruit Bomb, nose is very soft, sweet and only slightly alcoholic. I also perceive honey. On the palate then some esters with vanilla, honey and yellow fruits. Alcohol is well integrated for the strength. Maybe a little too sweet but totally okay.

Great nose with unripe fruits, but compared to the competitors in the tasting somewhat reserved. On the palate significantly less fruity than the nose suggested and despite the pale color quite spicy/nutty. The 67% is noticeable but well integrated. I like it quite a bit and it makes me look forward to future releases from Ghana, which will surely come quite often in the future. So many unaged rums from Ghana have come out recently, which suggests that IBs probably have many barrels in storage. It will be exciting to see if the fruit notes survive longer aging.

Very nice rum from a rather unknown destination. Perfect to get to know something new. Despite its 67%, it comes across very round and smooth. Great debut that promises more from the bottler.

I usually don't really like young and wild rums but this one is among the top I have tasted. And unusual terroir as well. Third rum from Ghana (others being RX9426 and RX12892) and all three are very different but very good.
