Cookie dough, ripe pineapple and banana, with the glue-and-marzipan funk you expect from New Yarmouth. The extra years in the barrel round it off — several tasters call it geschmeidiger, smoother and woodier than the RA editions, with the 60% alcohol tucked in surprisingly well. A funky Jamaican that's intense but not exhausting, and a favorite in Mai Tais too.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Liquid strongly baked chunky banana-salted caramel-chocolate-pineapple cookies! The nearly 3 more years in the barrel have, in my opinion, done the rum very well. Alcohol is almost perfectly integrated. Clearly smoother and more drinkable than the two predecessors from RA and in my opinion also more intense typical cookie dough note, plus baking spices, lots of pineapple and banana bread and minimal citrus notes (zest) as well as light roast aromas like cookies that were in the oven a bit too long. Wood is clearly more intense to perceive but nowhere too much. Probably one of the best CDI releases in a long time! And also in Mai Tai, it beats the two RAs again significantly because the additional wood simply brings more harmony here. Mega delicious, simply!😅👌🏼

The farmer's palate says: This may be an objectively very good rum, but no, it's somehow not for me, I don't warm up to it, especially because of the strange smell, a mix of marzipan and baby puke. 🙄 Also, I tasted it against the NY 1994 from V&M (RX10419), so it can only lose. I'll give the rum a second chance sometime, but not in a cross-tasting.

A wonderfully creamy yet astringent funky Jamaica rum from New Yarmouth. Lots of marzipan and baking spices on the palate. Wonderful long finish. Very cool! Funky Jamaica with a difference. With this bottling, New Yarmouth is no longer an insider tip.

Finally, New Yarmouth 2009 again. A great release and a great barrel selection from Perola. The profile is a bit woodier and more mature than one knows from the two RA (First & Second Edition), yet the New Yarmouth DNA is absolutely there. Personally, I see it very slightly behind the Wild Parrot New Yarmouth 2009 (RX13281) but if you compare the price of the two bottles (WP 240€ vs. CDI 150€) then I have to factor that into my rating and both land at an excellent 88 and thus also at exactly the value I gave the RA NYE First Edition. Chapeau for this release and every New Yarmouth fan must own and open this bottle. Tonight it goes directly off with the device in the Mai Tai. Update: For me one of the hottest releases in 2022 Update 2: Tasted again against CDI NY 2009 Sweden 🇸🇪 & CDI NY 2009 Denmark 🇩🇰. For me clearly the strongest

A NY of the upper class; and the whole thing is pretty funky! It's really fun 🤩 Lots of esters, glue, cookie dough, marzipan and fruit on the palate. These aromas carry through from the nose to the finish. Light aromas of roasted wood also develop on the palate. All of this together is very intense

Among the mass of CDI once again one with class. A great NY.Nose: wonderfully powerful with a neat package of esters and fine, intense marzipan. Pattex glue and discreet vinegar are not missing either. There's also fresh lime, ripe, tart pineapple and ripe banana. Behind that, a slight sweetness of sugar syrup and something like brioche or cookie dough. Could smell it forever.Palate: already clearly astringent at the beginning with a short bitter note. But then the esters follow right through and the pineapple with lime zest come through. Behind that it becomes a bit calmer, doughier... Brioche and fruit bread with candied orange peel, plus some anise or licorice. The finish also brings back the marzipan with some green tea.Great nose, nice flavor curve on the palate, not too demanding. 👍

Retasting to compare with the 13yo CDI NY. Both need some time to settle down after which this one has the richer, more complex body while the nose of the 13yo wins. Still great NY with a lot of fruits, funkiness & cookie dough that feels much older once the spirit has settled. //update: rated up a bit in comparison to other young NY, great value/money and solid profile //update: great, confirm my rating

This is a very lovely bottle for all High Ester lovers. Blindly could this be a strange Hampden too. Awesome nose with a mix of funk, esters, fruits and baking spices. All those smells are also reflected in the mouth. The alcohol is integrated very well. The finish is delicious with a lot of grilles pineapple and long.

Somehow I have a weakness for New Yarmouth, especially with strong cookie dough notes, but unfortunately there are far too rare! Here we have once again a great bottling, which for me also stands out from the broad mass of CDI. The RA NY First is one of my favorite rums, even if it comes a bit beastly. The CDI comes quite close to the whole, but shows itself woodier, rounder and thus more moderate. Currently I see him therefore behind the RA, but that probably depends very much on the form of the day. Class rum that delivers the New Yarmouth profile, but is also not too demanding. Delicious esters, plus the NY cookie dough, which should be even a bit more present for me though. Nevertheless, class and tasty, tasty, tasty!

On the nose, it doesn't come across as stormy like the RA New Yarmouth, you can tell this one spent longer in the cask. But still, funky, funky, funky – citrus fruits, marzipan, cookie dough, and lots of esters! After a short time, really accessible and ready for the palate! Moving on – significantly higher astringency, you can taste the bourbon cask, but pleasantly so, and the alcohol is really well integrated. Young wood and the aforementioned nose notes are also present on the palate. Really great – a top bottling from CDI, it's been a while. For me, on par with the 1st Edition of RA NY. The CDI is more mature and not quite as wild anymore.

Intense Jamaica nose. Typical ester acid for younger Jamaican rums, well integrated sweetness gives it a nice balance. Dry but fresh finish. Good alcohol integration. Lovers of the profile will fully enjoy it.

A very (too?) classic nose for a NY especially on the fruits. The varnish is there to support the fruits. Almost no wood on the palate, all the expression is on the fruits. The evolution in the mouth is exemplary. Wood arrives on the finish and with class. It is very long and still on the fruits. A perfect rum for Mai Thais according to Artur.

#5889 25.10.2025 Getting ready to go to Copenhagen for tonights event at the old newspaper press. Nose Fresh, light wood, banana, overripe, light clove, varnish, faint rubber, citrus, faint floral. Palate Fresh, round, balanced, light wood, oily, banana, pineapple, light cherry, spice, light glue, light rubber. Finish Medium to long, light wood, light orange, light varnish, light floral, light clove. Empty glass Light rubber, faint tar, citrus, light pineapple, light floral.

Since I personally like New Yarmouth, I was not disappointed here either. For me, again a super good successful bottling. It needs a little time in the glass, but after a short time it unfolds its full splendor. I will also follow up here with another bottle. Today I tried again against the RumX calendar day 10 to find out if it has similarity with the blind sample. I don't think so, but for me it is still an amazingly good rum.

It's not a slap, it's a caress. Exotic fruits, pineapple, mango & banana are prominent, a good dose of almond, milk chocolate, beautiful praline notes complete a decidedly fruity and round, indulgent profile. Pure pleasure!

For 60% an amazingly round drop, less biting than expected. You should give it a little time, then it brings its aromas of fruit and spice well. Tasting with my 86-year-old father, who had a similar impression.

Clearly more wood than the 2009 RA bottlings, but the alcohol is better integrated. Otherwise as usual lots of cookie dough. Less fruity than the 2005 vintage. Nice pineapple note. A bit of marzipan. The slight sour note bothers me a bit.

A really very nice New Yarmouth 2009, which unlike the 94 vintages lies on the fruity and slightly ester side. Accompanied by great aromas of cookie dough and marzipan. A very successful rum.

Nice, classic NY 2009 profile. For me one point behind the Danish sister cask, where the alcohol is even better integrated. But ahead of the Japanese sister cask, which is somewhat less complex and intense.

The nose needed some time in the glass in the beginning it smelt kind of sour and after a while I have identified this as a kiwi fruit. Palate and finish are really nice with just the right amount of ester, fruit and cookie dough.

New Yarmouth lineup. Clear ester notes paired with tropical fruits on the nose. The taste now with much more funk. Really a smooth drop with nice steam. A rum that definitely has character.

I would title it "Yarmouth for beginners." Mine was the first from FRC - this candidate comes lighter, although no less tasty. But just less punch. But this CDI is really great for the price, offers everything you can expect from a Yarmouth and that is complex esters, great tasting experience and fun trying it.

Ideal companion to Jamaica Christmas Cake. Lots of esters (would love to see the ester hole behind the distillery). I taste pineapple, bananas and breadfruit. Like the finish of this rum. It feels really funky.

This is fun, absolutely round, balanced and harmonious, profile I like better than the 'Wild Parrot'. Ester, funk, oak, spice, dough notes, all there. Nice and soft, with a nice sharpness, wood influence is more present here than in the WP. Still, the CDI offers the better overall package, nice 👍.

When I opened the bottle 3 years ago it didn't grab me but my taste has developed since then and now I find it great. On the nose intense smell of cookie dough and a bit funky. Cask notes are also noticeable. Taste-wise a rounded thing, the ester notes are more dominant here and slight roast aromas join in. The texture is pleasantly oily. Overall a great bottling.

On the nose typical Jamaica/NY, lots of esters, tropical fruits like fully ripe mango and banana (I can't find the much described cookie dough, but maybe I've been baking wrong until now😅). The 60.2% is very well integrated in this NY. On the palate, the nose continues pleasantly with hints of vanilla. In the long finish, tropical fruits and esters spread.

On the nose ripe tropical fruits perfectly sweet, esters, glue, marzipan and a slight touch of vanilla. The palate is just as beautiful and full, always on these same markers. It's funky as well as indulgent and "calm". The alcohol is very well integrated. Medium-long finish. Really a very beautiful bottling, with a very nice balance!
