Very tasty fruity and floral beenleigh, but the alcohol could be better integrated and the finish is a little too bitter and metallic.... Could be much more balanced and complex with a few more years of ageing.

In der Nase fruchtig floral aber auch Lösemittel und Alkohl. Im Mund eine schöne Süße. Beim zweiten Schluck auch dunkle Schokolade, Holz und Frucht. Abgang mittellang und leicht alkoholisch. Schöner Rum wenngleich der Alkohol besser eingebunden sein könnte. Denke nicht das ich für den Preis eine Flasche gekauft hätte.

Profil très différent de ce que je connaissais chez Beenleigh. Il faut laisser beaucoup de temps à ce rhum pour se révéler. Sans cela, l'alcool est trop présent. Si on prend le temps, on démarre sur un Foursquare boosté aux solvants au nez (édit : avec du recul, la Foursquare est quand même loin...) Puis on enchaine sur un profil plus pâtissier en bouche. L'alcool reste très présent. Normal vu le degré d'alcool. Mais on a tellement été habitué à des intégrations dingues avec Swell donc celui-ci détonne un peu. Ça reste très bon et très au-dessus des notes à 65 qui présentes sur ce rhum. Édit : gros besoin d'aération. Minimum 30-45 minutes. Après cela, on découvre un profil très sympathique. Ne pas hésiter également à le tester avec quelques gouttes d'eau pour le rendre plus accessible.

A Beenleigh unlike any other. The nose is very fresh and floral for a Beenleigh. The fruits then take over (apple, peach, pear) with spices (pepper, licorice) and a quite marked medicinal touch. Leather, wood, brown sugar and caramel come to balance the initially perceived profile. A rather disconcerting olfactory profile. The profile takes another turn on the palate, with first relatively classic flavors for the Australian profile: pear, apple, grape, spices (chili, pepper, licorice) but also roasted notes, nuts and leather settle on the palate. The second part of the mouth is much more interesting with a menthol wave on eucalyptus, indulgent peaches and camphor giving a false air of TDL to the profile. Very nice gustatory twist. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is long and powerful, extending the pleasure of the fresh and menthol notes present at the end of the mouth. The fruity side meets warmer, spicy and metallic notes that conclude a changing and surprising profile. Swell makes a nice move with this Beenleigh that breaks new ground. Australian rums not being at their peak and Swell being known for its older bottlings, it is not surprising that this one easily flies under the radar.

#4526 14.12.2023 This is a nice release and the price tag is really good in my mind. Medium fruity with a nice natural sweetness to it. The palate is well rounded and the ABV well integrated. The finish is long and warm with a nice minty touch.

Needs a lot of aeration. On the nose exotic fruits, vanilla, coconut, some solvents. The nose still stings. On the palate, fruits, a bit of chili, spices and a pastry side. Unfortunately, I find the alcohol poorly integrated, finish quite short. Good, but nothing more.

How could a sunny Easter day start better? I don't know :) Great swell here. Nice nose consisting of brown sugar and cream toffee. On the palate, we then have a kind of tea, mint and leather can also be tasted.

The first nose and the first sip were probably a little premature. After a while, however, it developed for the better. Initially it was very unbalanced and alcoholic, but this subsides with time. I briefly had an association with a Foursquare, but then the mint and tea notes come to the fore. All in all, a Beenleigh that tastes good to me. The taste reminds me of the very minty T.D.Ls Rather unsuitable for me as a mixer.

Je le trouve très bon. J’en ai bu pas mal de différents de cette distillerie et j’aime beaucoup le profile de celui ci. Chacun son avis, mais perso je ne sent pas du tout les 67 degrés. Je le trouve meilleur que « l’esprit » C’est vrais qu’une heure d’aération lui fait du bien. Bref c’est bien fait et ça passe très bien, belle longueur aussi.

Great fruit notes, fresh peach, mango, tea, mint, some spice, plus wood - that has something. The aroma remains stable overall, i.e. little variation in the second and third sip, but that's okay. White to please and with the fruit iced tea flavors, Beenleigh has something of its own to offer here.

It's strong but it's good! I have trouble understanding the very low rating of this Swell. Needs good airing, alcohol not necessarily well integrated but it's still a good spirit!

Après 1h de repos dans le verre (conseillé par Vincent D), à l'ouverture de la bouteille, se dégage un profil assez sec mais agréable. Néanmoins, j'ai du mal à déterminer les arômes que je perçois si ce n'est le côté salle de sport et gant de box neuf décrit sur la bouteille. En bouche, on a un mélange de fleurs séchées, de fruits un peu acidulé comme la mandarine, sur un fond d'hydrocarbures, et de colle mais peu de présence d'ester et de fruit trop mûre comme on pourrait s'y attendre. Sur la finale, la mandarine prend le dessus mais s'accompagne d'un chocolat noir qui m'a rappelé un peu les pims de mon enfance.

Overall all really interesting with all the tea, mint leaves and flowery components added to the caramelised and sweet vanilla base. Nevertheless it feels kind of unbalanced and may should have rested a few more years in a cask. It reminds me of entering the Rum Depot and being greeted with a mixture of everything Rum related :D
