La Favorite Cuvée Privilège Pour Lulu 1999
Sip this one neat, and give it 30–45 minutes to open — several tasters say the glass turns from a bit sharp to floral, fruity and rounded. You get cooked sugarcane, oak, vanilla, pepper and dark prunes, with orange peel and a light bitterness on a medium finish. A classic, balanced Martinique agricole that many feel is a touch too gentle for a 20-year-old.

How does La Favorite Cuvée Privilège Pour Lulu 1999 taste?
From community reviews · summarized with AI
Balanced aged agricole, gentle for its age Well-liked, balanced old agricole with sugarcane, oak and spice. The recurring gripe: it drinks mild and "lacks a bit of power" for its age — subtle where some wanted more punch.

I have already ordered the latest release of this wonderful Agricole Well rounded, balanced and complex. Less powerful than the Flibuste, but in a very pleasant way. Fruity with nuts and spices well balanced with the oak and tobacco.

Let it air for 30 to 45 minutes to avoid a sharp and acidic mouthfeel Nose: Light gingerbread Brown sugar And after airing... Lime or even bergamot Ripe pineapple Mouth: Light mead, resemblance to an aged calvados Tobacco Length too average

A good Agricole. Clear purchase recommendation.

A very good Agricole that would have been rated much higher with more volume! For me it's just too light! It has everything in the flavor profile that characterizes a good Agricole, but somehow too sweet 🙃. A bit more expression would have suited it well.
Review by TheRhumhoe
A balanced agricole rum that opens with a pastry-like nose, with cane sugar, wood, spices and floral notes. After aeration, the fruits are more present (yellow fruits, citrus, apricot and prunes notably). You find a typical agricole profile on the palate, with a hint of tobacco, spices, honey, fruity, vegetal and woody notes. The finish, quite long, focuses on the floral and vegetal side, with earthy and grassy notes, a slight bitterness that predominates over the wood, cane sugar and fruits. A subtle rum with a varied and pleasant profile, but from which one could expect more for a rum of this caliber.

Even at the second tasting, it didn't improve. Not a bad Agricole, but also not outstanding.

Very interesting and balanced nose, round, gourmand. Not found on the palate, wood too predominant, bitterness. Length shorter than expected given the very long aging.

Color: Light brown Smell: Sweet, aromatic and fruity. Aromas of vanilla, orange and hay. Taste: Sweet and spicy in the mouth. When swallowing then peppery and slightly sharp. Aromas of vanilla, ginger and wood. Finish: Medium length Spicy and dry. Ginger, woody, slightly medicinal-herbal. 85 points

Very subtle

Lacks a bit of punch.
Review by Jacques etdom
A beautiful woody nose, on cooked cane, a bit of apple. The palate follows the nose with a bit of pepper and always that beautiful woody background of the cellar. A slight alcoholic prick that enhances everything. A very beautiful agricole.
