La Favorite Cuvée Privilège Pour Lulu 1999

Sip this one neat, and give it 30–45 minutes to open — several tasters say the glass turns from a bit sharp to floral, fruity and rounded. You get cooked sugarcane, oak, vanilla, pepper and dark prunes, with orange peel and a light bitterness on a medium finish. A classic, balanced Martinique agricole that many feel is a touch too gentle for a 20-year-old.

The look inside the bottle

How does La Favorite Cuvée Privilège Pour Lulu 1999 taste?

Aggregated from 51 community reviews.

Balanced aged agricole, gentle for its age Well-liked, balanced old agricole with sugarcane, oak and spice. The recurring gripe: it drinks mild and "lacks a bit of power" for its age — subtle where some wanted more punch.

Perfect for

Agricole fans who like elegant, balanced, oak-driven sippers

Less suitable for

I have already ordered the latest release of this wonderful Agricole Well rounded, balanced and complex. Less powerful than the Flibuste, but in a very pleasant way. Fruity with nuts and spices well balanced with the oak and tobacco.

A very good Agricole, which, with more volume would have been rated much higher! He has the flavor profile of everything that distinguishes a good Agricole, but somehow too dear 🙃. Something more expression would have stood him excellent

Avg Rating 8.1/10 over 220 Rums

La Favorite is the last working distillery inside Martinique's capital, Fort-de-France, and the island's longest continuously family-run house. Five generations of the Dormoy family have made rhum here on a 1906 steam engine that still turns the mill. It is agricole at its most unvarnished, and the community treasures its old La Flibuste vintages as some of the finest aged Martinique rum there is.
