Back after two beautiful weeks of vacation... without rum! And to mark this comeback in style, today's bottle kill is a bit special: my 1000th tasting note on RumX Plantation Guyana 2008 – Port Mourant – Mezcal Finish (49.7%) Aging: • 9.5 years under tropical climate in bourbon barrel (200 L) • 2 years in Ferrand cognac barrel (350 L) • 6 months in Del Maguey mezcal barrel Dosage: 10 g/L Nose Dark chocolate, intense tobacco, well-present dried fruits... all enhanced by a fruity freshness and a little vegetal touch evoking cane. Warm and welcoming. Palate Silky on attack, with beautiful notes of toasted coconut, smoked vanilla and wood. Then the mezcal finish slips in gently, without rushing the whole. Finish A nice balance between woody warmth and lemony freshness. Indulgence and tension to close the tasting. A rum that well illustrates the journey taken: atypical, surprising, with a profile off the beaten path. It's not a must-have, but it has the merit of daring. And don't forget: registrations for our end-of-season BBQ will close early June! Don't delay to register so we can organize everything in the best conditions 🔥🍖🥂
