12.02.2026 Retasting thebnast two of the El Dorado samples from Nürnberg. Still an OK rum but the price tag is a bit high in my mind. -------- Pretty well rounded release with fruits and wood balanced pretty well. The Port cask is present without being too dominant. Needs to rest for a while before the full experience is there.

Yes, that's a typical El Dorado. They always seem somehow more concentrated than other rums. But does it really have to be with such a finish? For me, definitely not. I would have preferred the Versailles without it. Still a pretty good rum. Not for every night, it's a bit of a demanding guy that needs attention. Update 2022-11-28: Today not demanding at all, but simply smooth from the start - probably because of the finish. Should I actually become a port-finish aficionado? It definitely gets 2 points more than at the first tasting. Still too high a bottle price.

So in any case, the Ruby Port is also quite tasty compared to the Sauternes Cask, it is very fruity on the nose and on the palate.Addendum: Photo the Ruby Port Cask Finish is also already very drinkable, it must be said.Best to leave 15-30 minutes in the glass.

31-08-2025 - Rate 8.8 German Rum Festival We found our way over to El Dorado, who had 3 rums that we never tasted before. Frist in line was this Versailles. Nose with hints of plum, port, wood and spices. Palate follows the nose very well. Medium finish dominated by wood and spices. 12-09-2025 - Rate 8.2 11-02-2026 - Rate 8.5
