A real "board" - aromatically very dense with lots of fresh fruit from a melange of tropical and citrus fruits that can hardly be decomposed in the last detail paired with bacony roasted aromas, spices, wood influences and some caramel sweetness. Extremely intense, but in this force also absolutely impressive.

Super intense long pond. Alcohol well integrated. I like it very much :) Edit: Tasted again with the 2005/2010 Cambridge NRJ bottlings. The Plantation has a completely different profile for me. Much more dirty aromas, petrol, some mint, tobacco. Slightly astringent on the palate. The ester notes are not as prominent here as in the NRJ bottlings, especially the 2010 release. Reminds me a little of the Tamosi Long Pond. I still like it very much!

This is the oldest STC❤️E I've ever had in a glass.... And it's really good! Not quite as fruity on the palate as the younger representatives, especially the NRJ, but still quite complex. The barrel is clearly evident, but still fits. The alcohol is very well integrated.

I would spontaneously say that this is the best STC♥️E I've had in my glass so far 😃 Even better than the Velier 2005 and 2010, perhaps not an entirely fair comparison. The complexity is more comparable to the 95/97 Fine Dram Clarendons... there's an incredible amount to discover on the nose, lots of dried fruit (raisins, figs), cream candy, baking mix, chewing tobacco, also a little herbal in the direction of aniseed and fennel, and subtly the typical LP gravy. Incredibly smooth on the palate for the 69% I'm thrilled!

A fabulous Long Pond that shows a remarkable delicacy for its voltage. The nose lets tropical fruits and phenolic notes express themselves, then let the floral and vegetal notes melt with pastry aromas, spices and a little patinated wood. A very elegant nose. On the palate, we find the same array of flavors with lots of spices and chocolate, yellow fruits and chili pepper as well. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, the whole rests on a remarkable balance of flavors and an infinite roundness. The finish is endless on the same flavors, all in control and elegance. An intense, complex, sensual rum that has everything going for it.

The NRJ Cambridge rums are among my absolute favorites - of course I had to try this one. First of all: it tastes completely different. Less vanilla, curry leaf, tar, wax and fruit ... but (of course, after time) the astringent wood-water notes of long tropically matured rums. Roughly how you would imagine a blend of Cambridge and 95 EMB (in a positive sense). It's only after the first "oh, that's amazing" that you slowly recognize the similarities. Great rum!

9:On the nose, medicinal, industrial with esters, glue, solvents, petrol, tar, rubber, intense, funky, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, mango, red fruits with cherry, dairy hints, roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, caramelized, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is thick, vegetal with olive, tomatoes, floral, earthy with tobacco, concentrated, rubber is slightly burnt, vanilla, roasted nuts, chocolate join. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is intense, slightly astringent with fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, mango, papaya, red fruits, vegetal molasses with briny olive, tomatoes, earthy tobacco, medicinal with esters, glue, varnish, rubber, menthol, petrol and the wood is roasted with caramelized notes, coffee, spicy with allspice, vanilla, tannic. 8,8:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with toasted oak notes like caramel, leather, coffee, spicy allspice, warm, cognac barrel finish is obvious, fruity with tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits and dried apricots, peaches, medicinal, molasses is vegetal, earthy.

A nose of esters and pastries with a glue background. Overripe tropical fruits, marzipan. The palate is lively, super aromatic, the esters are controlled and the tropical fruits join the yellow fruits. The cedar wood is present but discreet. The finish is super long and all the aromas decline together. A great Jamaican, largely underrated in my opinion.

The starter to a great evening. If a tasting starts like this, where should it end? I'm still very inexperienced with Long Pond, but this one is quite something. I found the spices particularly exciting. Not too woody for 29 years and the alcohol is very well integrated. I'd love more of this.

Doesn't quite reach the two Hampdens from earlier ;-) Still a great rum, also many tropical fruits (banana and pineapple), as well as rich esters. However, solvents, wood and spices are also noticeable.

#6049 09.12.2025 Time to run a few samples after my Old St. Croix Christmas Calendar and another sweet rum behind door number 9. Nose Intense, fruity, overripe, banana, light glue, light cherry, faint leather, light floral, faint polish. Palate Oily, warm, wood, light roasted, light orange, light tobacco, light plum, light berries, fruity, overripe, light glue. Finish Long and warm, wood, light copper, light citrus, light glue, light mineral. Empty glass Faint chocolate, light leather, faint tobacco, banana, light cherry. Needs to rest for a while to open up properly. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind.

I took a long time to give my opinion, the bottle is now finished. Personally, I don't ask for anything else from an old Longpond, it is excellent and surprisingly drinkable for its strength. The combination of esters and the cognac cask still shows its effectiveness.

Plantation collection Antipodes Long Pond 1995 STCE. This Jamaican molasses rum has been aged for 27 years. It has the specific Long Pond STCE distillery mark, which corresponds to an ester level of 550-700 g/hL of pure alcohol. That's already quite high. It’s bottled at 69°. Its venerable age has given it a deep mahogany color. The nose opens with esters that are less wild and more refined than a Hampden. We’re on old wood, polished, and coated with a layer of varnish. There’s solvent, gasoline. That might sound off-putting but it’s not at all. The aromas are heavy but refined, with lots of very ripe exotic fruits, especially well-ripened mango, forgotten in its basket. A hint of Port also coats the nostrils. On the palate, the esters are still present but tobacco dominates, with that dusty cigar box vibe. The mouthfeel is lively and warm, but everything is well controlled despite the 69°. It’s complex but perfectly balanced. There are vegetal and spicy notes, with a freshly opened vanilla pod. It’s more measured and less funky than a Hampden. The finish is on that comforting warmth, and it hits after all the previous rums in this tasting that brought freshness on the tongue. The exotic fruitiness didn’t leave us during all the sips and long after, still with that dried tobacco. The length is medium to long. This rum has become rare with a price that’s not cheap.

If you can see after more than 1h breathing time times over the violent gasoline note can see here a really nice bouquet of old banana peel, coffee grounds, strong cocoa and espresso beans, citrus peel and intense tannins and a slightly fresh, bitter and floral note in the finish as in a 94 KFM already almost... Alcohol is top integrated, exciting but also very special and definitely not for every day. Since you must already have Bock on it!

A Long Pond with low ester content that literally calls out tropical fruits on the nose. On the palate it is amazing! The finish is warm and carries the tropical notes for quite a while. Thanks to saibotzar for the awesome split!

Beautiful depth with powerful waves of tropical fruits, wood, spices, and a hint of solvent, which transitions into tobacco and chocolate. Despite 69%, everything is surprisingly well integrated, the profile remains round and multi-layered. The finish is long, carried by fruity notes and spicy dryness.

This 27 year old long pony should have been the highlight of the evening and he did not disappoint. The high ABV is beautifully integrated, the fruit and chocolate flavors linger in the mouth for an incredibly long time, with the higher ABV warming to the belly on this long finish. One of the top plantation bottlings.

On the nose: fruit/wood/green/spices, we can feel that the experience is going to be strong! Net: much too powerful, too bitter, too roasted for my taste buds. But with some water and time this Long Pond ended up relaxing. A really long and balanced finish between fruity, floral (the influence of cognac?) pastry, woody, spicy and burnt tire notes (a bit like Caroni). Not easy to access but it finally conquered me.

Interesting Long Pond with a bit of Plantation magic. The alcohol is fairly well integrated, but the 69% is noticeable. Esters recede into the background, instead notes of wood, spice and tobacco come in.

One of the most delicious and complex rums I have tried. Every time I took a sip, the flavor changed. Other Jamaican rums have a very similar flavor of funk but this it totally unique. The combination of aging in bourbon and cognac is incredible.

This is a low ester long pond that just screams the tropical fruits in your nose. The palate fits quite good with the presumably very wet cognac cask. Warm finish that still carries the tropical fruit nicely
