A wonderfully well-balanced Long Pond: bold, elegant, and complex. Ripe tropical fruits, citrus, and delicate esters meet wood, vanilla, nuts, and spice. Long finish with tannins, leather, and licorice – smooth, full of character, fantastic.

Very good Long Pond/Cambridge 🤤🤤, but i miss here the power like the 2005th version (5/6% less than the 2005). Nose: Classic delicious mix of ester, nail polish, glue, solvents, various trop fruits, citrus with a some notes of the barrel Mouth: Ester, solvents, trop. fruits, a bit flowery and sweet. And licorice 🤔 Finish: long, with a lot of various notes of the barrel paired with a fruity note (pineapple). Really delicious The alcohol is integrated very well For me Cambridge 2005>>>Cambridge 2010.

Way too heavy on the menthol and lime. Wears out its welcome when you actually own it and is best enjoyed as a sample (where it makes a great first impression). There is some nice fruit way in the background but the lime and menthol just dominates everything to the point of it becoming annoying. You overlook it at first but then it gets really grating. Best used as a menthol drink to clear you out after a big dinner. Unpopular opinion: this is an overrated bottle that you should try before you buy.

The clearly more relaxed - in the sense of uncomplicated drinkable - STCE from the Velier series. For me, both are almost on par, only the slightly greater aromatic force brings the 2010 razor-thin in front. However, both offer high quality, without any doubt.

Another retaste and I still love it 😊 Retasting this one today and I stick to my score 😊 Very intense from pouring to finish. I rested it for 15 minutes and by then it had settled a bit and the ABV was perfectly integrated at that time. Fruity and spicy with wood on the palate and the esters were also detectable. I picked up light menthol on the palate and I liked it. The finish is like forever and really, really nice. Price to quality is extremely good in my mind.

Very good, but less balanced and fragrant than Long Pond TECA, VR and TECC. The ABV is a bit predominant compared to its other counterparts mentioned earlier. What did not particularly impress me was the aromatic bouquet that I perceived it a bit too light and not well blended. It's lucky that I tried a sample because I don't know if at the figure of 150 euros I would have bought it, at the same amount I would have opted for a TECA. However beyond the price it remains a nice rum highly above average, but one that disappoints expectations a little for the name it carries. For those who have never tasted a Long Pond it remains an interesting experience absolutely worth trying.There is no lack of typical roasted and pastry notes on the nose and palate with a medium tropical fruit (perhaps pineapple) finish.

Very nice bottling. A bit behind the 2005 (13y bottling). This is a bottling which changes dramatically with oxidation. While the freshly opened bottle is very fibrant, this will (relatively fast) deteriorate. Still: a little upgrade based on the „newly opened experience“. Compared to the older 2005 (18y) bottling, this is much more ester forward and straight into your face. More (artificial) fruit notes and more adstringent. Very different tasting experience. Both truely nice, however.

Very cool and well-balanced STCE! Fresh lime zest, some mint, overripe banana, fermented papaya, very meaty BBQ-like notes and pineapple flambéed with rum and refined with vanilla pulp... You have to be up for it😃 the two 2005s STC❤️E are better in comparison in my opinion! 😃

Superb! Esterised nose. Ripe fruit. A very heavy woodiness accompanied by a strong smell of glue. A freshness that makes you want more. On the palate, it's really very good. All the hallmarks of the nose are present, along with very pleasant floral notes. The finish is insanely smooth and of very decent length. The release price is high. The bottle is not the same as the previous ones in the series. But it's VERY good! Edit: first impression confirmed. A little too powerful for me, but a superb bottle.

Edit: Tasted again as part of the RumX Advent Calendar 2024. unfortunately missed the day, but I would have recognized it (I think). Or at least narrowed it down to the Cambridges 2005 & 2010. Already very typical and fine. And for me more pleasant to drink than (most) TECAs Absolutely great rum! So intense and full of flavor. But extremely drinkable at the same time. Strongly cooked cherry jam, fruit, vanilla pods in solvent, curry green, esters, wood ... a dream Update: After about 2 months, the bottle is almost empty and I've ordered a refill. It really has become my favorite "affordable" rum. Unfortunately, the strong vanilla fades very quickly when you first open it, but other things come out more beautifully. I'll give it another point.

I didn't remember it at all when I accidentally took the sample out of the box. Great bottling! Funky Jamaica with a sour note that reminds me strongly of the old Center Shock chewing gums. Second tasting: +3 points

So many expectations on this release and I must say they were perfectly repaid! Classic profile of this distillery, dark intense and with a nice part of red fruits to garnish the tasting! Another fantastic long pond!

Blind tasting 2024-12-20 in the RumX calendar. Long Pond was not difficult to recognize. But I guessed TECA/TECC from the mark. I particularly like the liqueur character of this rum. The alcohol is also excellently integrated. Rating+0.1 Tasted together with the Velier Long Pond STCE 2005. What a wonderful nose! A great balance between tropical fruits, spices, wood - I could smell it for hours! I particularly like the fully ripe sweet pineapple. The palate is much spicier, but the fruit is also very well accentuated. A slight bitterness is added towards the finish. A fascinating rum, simply top class! The 2005 seems to me not quite as differentiated, rounder and does not have this bitter note. For me, this bottling is slightly ahead.

RumX Advent Calendar 2014 Day 20 In the blind tasting he picked me up again completely, therefore corrected upwards again I thought for a long time about how to describe the smell. I always thought it was like fermentation, then I thought it was like a child's sweaty feet. Now that I've smelled it again and the bottle has been open longer, it smells more like fruity nail polish. I think the taste is just funky, but I still can't describe it exactly. Edit: Mega delicious!!! I added another 0.1 points. FruitEsterFunk 2nd edit: After DomM suggested it as a mixer for a MaiTai, I also tried it. Great, now I'll probably have to add another bottle.

RumX Kalender 2024 Day 20: Slight acidity on the nose, butter, esters. But reasonably discreet, not too intrusive. Dark roasted notes in the mouth, a pleasant sweetness and well-integrated wood. Medium finish with reader and astringency. The estery notes remain. Reminds me of a St. Lucia Chairman? On the other hand, too estery. Very dense, intense. Everything is well integrated. I really like it!

In direct comparison to the 2005, this bottling appears much more harmonious and fruity!But also with a little more ester and and nail polish.In the fruit I have initially an overripe, fermented papaya... who knows it; is not so great! But that fades quickly!On the palate, initially pleasantly mild and sweet, then intense, funky,fruity, woody and some allspice, great!The finish is medium long. Tannins and light woodiness predominate!It is in no way inferior to the 2005, although the profiles are somewhat different!

RumX Advent Calendar, Day 20. A Jamaican nose with tropical fruits, esters and solvents, but in fine balance. The wood is supportive, and the longer you leave it in the glass, the more complex the flavors become. Spices and yellow fruit appear. The aromas are lively on the palate, carried by the alcohol and supported by the wood, well present in the background. As with the nose, esters are domesticated and contribute to the complexity. The finish is complex, perhaps a little short compared with expectations, but the fruit and esters linger for a long time. A powerful and complex rum, but delicious and balanced. I like it.

Alcohol super integrated. In comparison with the 2005, I perceive much stronger notes of glue and solvent here, which do not recede into the background after a while in the glass, as with the 2005. I like it very much, but overall I like the 2005 a little better. After the 2nd tasting another + 4 (0.4) points. Still slightly behind the 2005. Edit: Tasted again in detail against the two 2005 Cambridge bottlings. The 2010 is definitely more on the varnish + solvent track than the 2005. Also more fermented/umami aromas a la TECA 2003, but much less pronounced. The 2005 bottlings are much more accessible in my opinion despite the higher ABVs. In the end, I like them all :)

The nose is brilliant. This is unmistakably a continental flavored Jamaican rum, and yet it's as round and approachable as you'd expect from Barbados. Along with nail polish and a fermented tropical fruit basket, there's plenty of vanilla, sweet pastry with strawberry syrup, and a bit of tart herbalism at the very back. In the mouth, the roundness takes revenge and costs some complexity. While the tart notes (slightly smoky curry leaves, as is often the case with high ester rums) are more prominent, it lacks some depth behind fruity esters and the sweet vanilla. The finish continues to be very smooth with prominent curry leaves. The has the feel-good factor of the HV EMB 2010. The bottle is ordered 🤤

Beautiful LP STCE. Balanced with relaxed esters, beautiful tropical fruits such as pineapple and lime. Compared to the 2005 Cambridge bottlings, however, this 2010 is slightly behind due to the slightly higher acidity.

again a top STC🖤E bottling! From memory, I would argue that the 2005 Cambridge was still a little edgier. But perhaps it is simply because of its lower ABV that the 2010 comes along a bit rounder and more balanced. On the nose, a really good balance of fermented, overripe fruit, fruit bread, iodine, balsamic vinegar. On the palate again this light gravy note, but everything in the green range and not yet as extreme as in the TECA bottlings.

An ultra-balanced Long Pond throughout: powerful, fine, delicate and very expressive, the control of the aromas is really excellent. Ripe exotic fruits and citrus take the lead, followed by phenolic notes, then come woody, vanilla, spicy and fresh notes that counterbalance the typical high ester profile. The esters dissipate on the palate, with tropical fruit, woody and floral notes finding their ease for a very nice taste balance. It is round, elegant and with just the right amount of character. The tannins are also present and are felt on a long, more vegetal finish, seasoned with leather and licorice in addition to the fruit. A superb Long Pond, all in control.

A lovely STCE Long Pond! Beautiful nose and amazing on the palate. Fruity,estery and a touch of Glue for me. Quite funky and very powerful. There is a lot going on with this rum, a smorgasbord of flavours! Well worth a try.

On aeration, various confectionery with pastry, gingerbread and sweet marzipan arise, vegetal and herbaceous molasses, slight metallic patina. 9:On the palate, the attack is delicious with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple redfruits, berries and citrus fruits like lime, some of them candied, funky with rubber, esters, solvents, a touch of menthol, as the wood is roasted, creamy, spicy with vanilla, cream toffee, confectionery, on oxidation smoky, as the molasses is vegetal, on air becomes darker with licorice. 8,7:The finish is rather long, dry&tannic, medicinal and slightly metallic, barrel touch is strong with various roasted wood notes, oak presence and spices, the fruits are overripe, juicy with tropical and citrus fruits, as the molasses is slightly grassy, fresh with tea. Quite a nail-biting nose, with chocolate, vanilla, a nice mix of fruit and honey resonating. In the mouth you get a harmonious range of flavors. Bitter chocolatey, dry, sour fruit, but still rounded out by honey and caramel. I really like it. Overall, a thoroughly complex rum.

Compared to the Cambridge 2005, it seems much more cloudy in the glass. On the nose much better, more intense, nice glue note. On the palate also compared to the 2005 much more intense, alcohol well integrated. In May Tai also mega!

👃 = Solvent notes with wood, banana, pineapple, lemon, a bit of acidity and caramel, plus a hint of salt. 👄 = After a subtle attack, this rum wakes up with more fruitiness, a bouquet of spices, then a long pastry and toasted finish with a touch of bitterness.

The aroma is equally intense as enchanting. On the one hand it’s aggressively medicinal and herbal, more or less what I imagine the air smells like on the inside of an Asian nail salon. Black tea on the side. Musty notes of discarded vanillapod, clove and resin. On the other hand sweet, nutty and refreshingly tropical with sliced banana, pineapple cubes and lime juice. Tastewise reduced to its absolute essence, and a perfect equilibrium of wood, spice, caramel and fruits. It’s good, very good, but the grandeur promised on the nose has been lost. The finish continues in the same trend as the palate: sweet, woody, dry and tannic at a reasonable length. This rum was such a different experience on the nose versus the palate, I feel obliged to split the score: Nose: 91 | Palate: 83

Day 20 of the RumX advent calendar: Today we have an aromatic all-round hit with an impressive harmony of individual aspects. Expressive, strong oak with a touch of varnish, mint and spices meets a brightly fruity tropical blend. There is also an initial kick of ester acidity in the mouth, but this turns into a smooth texture with the right amount of caramel and toasty vanilla. Quite complex and also pretty great!

More tastings from the National Rums of Jamaica series. 👃 This mark STC🖤E is a very good example of what a moderately (all things considered) esterized distillate can achieve in full tropical aging. A combination of varnished esters (model glue, nail polish, solvents) and fruity esters, very ripe, lots of tropical fruit (pineapple, banana, guava, papaya, starfruit) and fairly acid citrus (lemon, kumquat). The whole is carried by a lovely toasty, vanilla woodiness and a few mild spices. 😋 Little or no surprise, we find the same combination of solvent-dominated esters and fruit as on the nose. The same nail polish when my wife goes to get her nails done and tropical fruit that's very insular (pineapple, mango, breadfruit, starfruit) and overripe. The finish is a little more floral, like drinking a Kenzo perfume. ⛳ Long, warm, bitter, dry. More woody, a little rough, baked vanilla, spices, manufactured goods. The fruit is still overripe. Tropical aging gives a vanilla, spicy, slightly spicy woodiness. Some leather and chocolate notes. 💡 Along with the Monymusk 2010, this NRoJ is among the least "interesting". And yet, we're treated to a selection of very good quality, intensity, esters, fruit, island spices. Really very good.

An extremely complex nose. Wonderful chemistry (nail polish etc.), tropical fruit, plant and animal notes. Powerful, the alcohol stings. Rochefort comes with a little water. 🇫🇷 Solvent, spice in the mouth. Assam and herbs. Nice finish with lots of chemistry and caramel. A beautiful beast, I would say. Very sophisticated and not for drinking on the side.

Northern Lights Meeting 2025: Overripe fruit on the nose, especially citrus, pineapple and banana. Powerful in the mouth with a nice funk. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Finishes dry, slightly woody and bitter. In direct comparison with the 2005, this one has the edge.

Really fun to drink, a real ester bomb. Lots of ester, nail polish, solvent and banana on the nose. On the palate there is vanilla, wood, stone fruit and tropical fruit. The finish is incredibly long.

So, finally tasted all three Cambridge wines together today. The 2010 strikes me as more fruity on the nose and palate than the two 2005s, but at the same time less complex, less sweet and with fewer notes of glue or solvent. For me, it is the last of the three, but still a very tasty rum.

On the nose: Esters, fruity. Tropical fruits like overripe pineapples and banana. Solvents. Woody notes. Nicely balanced. Some vanilla and citrus notes in the background. Taste: Warm. Woody notes. Esters and tropical fruits. Then you get some spices and vanilla notes in there. Some sweetness from the fruits. Delicious. Finish: Woody, overripe pineapples and little bit of vanilla. Little bit dry. Long finish. This finish is just fantastic, it just somehow manages to hold those notes in your mouth on and on! Absolutely delicious palate of notes and the finish just continues and continues in your mouth.
