Pineapple and green apple lead the nose, with esters, a pastry-and-caramel warmth, and that vegetal Clarendon farminess underneath. On the palate you get menthol, licorice, dry wood and red fruit — plus a real 63% bite. Most tasters like it a lot; a couple find the alcohol poorly integrated and one flagged an almost chemical orange note. Good, not top-shelf Clarendon.

Nose akin to other 2007s with tropical fruits, green apples adding menthol with some time in the glas. Very nice. Very distinct MM on the palate as well. I do miss some complexity, however. Nose was more promising than the delivery you get from sipping. All in all a very solid bottling, but not top of the range MM(W) in my book.

The nose is decent but has an almost chemical orange odour that made me fear the worst. The mouth is overpowered by this orange flavour, almost chemical which reminds me a little of Don Papa. On top of that the alcohol is very badly integrated. I was really expecting more from this 😬

31.12.2022 Our yearly New Year party where we try new rums mixed with the personal bests. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light roasted wood, faint citrus, faint mint, light floral. Palate Light oily, light wood, fresh, fruits, warm, light citrus, light floral, light orange, faint mint, faint licorice. Finish Medium long, light wood, light ginger, light citrus, banana, faint medicinal, light chocolate.

Very hard to drink. Alcoholic, sharp, extremely dry like chalk, menthol mouthwash, fermented fruit... after over 2 hours of breathing time a slight caramel note appears. 2007 Clarendon just doesn’t seem to be my vintage...

The nose is initially full of esters. Banana and especially pineapple quickly take over, accompanied by a pastry and woody note. On the palate, we find the same markers as on the nose. The alcohol is initially biting, then softens with a little caramel that rounds things out. The finish is a little more bitter and woody, but without excess.

First impression: a bit an oily/fatty structure with some soapiness (koriander?) in the profile. Not yet sure if it’s really my kind of Clarendon.

After two Clarendons of the same vintage over the weekend, I thought I'd open this sample while the memory is fresh enough for a comparison. Nose and palate typical 2007 Clarendon with apple notes. After a while a nice pastry and caramel note comes in. Not bad, but not outstanding either.

Unfortunately for me the disappointment of the evening. The nose still invites with fruity spicy notes, but on the palate simply biting alcoholic for me, even after over an hour in the glass. I expected much more here.

Great clarendon. Jamaican fruit and funk with the vegetal and farmy frame of clarendon. A very very nice selection. We can regret the price which is rather high but well, the Brexit also passed by...

The nose is very nicely fruity, fresh with a hint of vanilla, on the palate then the classic spicy wood aromas, surrounded by menthol, allspice and licorice, the finish is medium length and rather on the bitter side. It is a good Clarendon, but I wouldn't get a bottle of it.

Impressive profile, reminiscent of the 1995 EMBs - but here in a slightly more youthful guise. Plenty of fresh fruit, menthol, herbal notes of tea, subtle sweetness. Very good.

I quite like it, with tropical fruits, compote, polish, wax on the nose. On the palate tobacco, red fruits, menthol, dirty. The DD is roughly at (very good) Cave Guildive (RX10190). The EMB 95 scores a bit higher though.

Solid Clarendon with all ingredients of a great Jamaican. Punchy abv, that is well enough integrated to carry lots of fruits and estery notes. Not overly complex but solid rum.
