Amazing. Fruity and mint bomb, very smooth and in the background some dirty notes. TOP TDL together with Nobilis 2001 Caksus and Rum Runner 2002

Of the dirty TDLs, 2001 is the most prominent vintage. The 2001s are the dirtiest, 2002 is fresher and 2003 is yellow fruitier. In crosstasting, I tried the RA, TCRL, Nobilis, Plantation Antipodes and the new Rasta Morris. The rums are incredibly similar - esp. the Nobilis and RM are barely distinguishable. The RA stands out because of the dilution, the Plantation is clearly marked by the cognac barrel - it moves it closer to the 2003s - and the TCRL is the freshest, with an unusual herbal note. The TCRL is somewhat reminiscent of the 2002s. The cognac finish is quite present. The Plantation diverges the most from the rest. I was going to find this annoying at first, but alas, it is awesome. The cognac finish provides a boyhood and fruitiness that isn't there otherwise. The rum is lighter and more elegant, bringing some light caramel like the TCRL. Compared to the Nobilis and the RM, it is super juicy. The complexity does not suffer. On the contrary, driving out the tar and dark flavors a bit more opens up the rum. One of my favorite characteristics of many dirty TDLs is the peach iced tea in the finish. Here, it's particularly long and lovely, as it's loaded with relatively little woodiness. Great.

A Plantation coming from Trinidad and that makes the mouth water from the start with fresh and minty notes, chocolate, wood, spices and a beautiful basket of exotic fruits. The attack in mouth is warm, intense and spicy, but also greedy with fruits (orange, pineapple, banana), sweet spices and floral touch that perfumes the palate. The alcohol is very well integrated, the whole very round and very fine. The finish is long, on the same register of flavors, all in balance. A delicious rum, elegant and with character.

Typical 2001 profile with lots of mint, dirty notes and wood. Nice balance between age and enough rough edges, with high intensity. Very successful.

Nez lourd et sale, goudron et fruits rouge, et une touche de thé et de pêche. Puissant mais envoûtant. Bouche moins sale, du raisin, de la pêche toujours, moins de fruit rouge, un peu de menthe poivrée. Excellent moment!

Very nice Trinidad with tropical fruits and menthol, nice rich aroma, does not disappoint even in taste. I recommend to try it.

Very nicely balanced on the nose. This one is less minty but more fruits forward with some herbs and notes from the oak casks. Well balanced in the palate as well. Fruit forwards with mint and wood. Less dirty than some of the other bottlings. Slightly behind the top notch 2001 bottlings for me due to a little rougher edges on the palate. Still very nice overall.

Nose: Dried mint, hay, acacia honey, leather, ripe pineapple, old wood table oak, fine thin leather gloves, mint, gooseberry, minerals, peach, beautiful nose, very delicate interplay, grassy, cassis Palate: cassis, oak, vanilla, caramel, strawberry, quite powerful but very nice, chocolate mint, creamy and a little fruity, sweet and astringent in the mouth. Caramel and kiwi, white, green grapes, mirabelle and plum, peppermint, strong oak with some peach and a touch of iodine pushes a long finish. Very tasty, perhaps a touch too dominant oak, but still allowing the other flavors to develop. Great bottling! Mint lingers on the palate for a long time, albeit much less than in the Rasta Morris 2001/2022. Overall today: Rasta Morris >Rom de Luxe (minimally better because of nose than) >Plantation 2001 Antipodes, this is virtually on a par with <> Cadenheads Green Label Trinidad 2003 18 yo. which would probably have been better than the Plantation Antipodes without dilution > left off Tamosi TDL 2000 which completely loses out here, no chance. 2001+2003 similarly much mint and diesel and polish and oak, top! 2000+2002 similarly less intense mint, hardly any diesel and dirt, less polish and less oak. The style is subtly more typical Spanish but very nice and much more powerful than what is otherwise known from this style, due to the British influence. I really like this mix of styles.

Less powerful than the Nobilis. But I like it better as a result. Alcohol very well integrated. Rounder without losing complexity. Needless to say, there is a lot of dry mint in these TDLs. For me, the winner of the 2001 vintages.

What a nose (unlike the previously tasted Tamosi)! The full load of mint paired with an exotic fruit basket ! After lingering, vanilla and caramel join in. The palate is complex and classic, with the fruit taking a bit of a back seat ! The finish is very intense and complex. A very good TDL with intense flavors! Alcohol very well integrated .
